I loved my Nivas. Perfect size. I like another and casually look quite often but I think my wife would shoot me. A Niva with my Mercedes diesel motor swapped in ... perfect!

I grew up in Northern Ontario and this is what "Off Road" looked like:



The only thing we could drive on was logging roads which ranged from a skidder track to a gravel haul road. Full size 4x4's ruled.

Now that's camping...cept for that BBQ, you actually hauled that thing out there? AHH right, you had to smoke all the fish you caught, right? ;D

What struck me is all these are rather large vehicles. Usually going down a trail a smaller vehicle can be very helpful. A beefed up Tracker or Niva might work better than a jumbo 4x4.

Don't forget the Suzuki GV is on the list.
