My homemade Cobra calendar 2018
« on: December 09, 2017, 08:28:15 am »
I like having a Cobra calendar in my office. Unhappy with the selection available in stores, I decided to make my own this year through Vistaprint. It was recently delivered and it looks absolutely fantastic!! Can't hardly wait for the new year to arrive...

Boss!
I built a model of that Cougar II way back when. I think this was the very kit here.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

The December Cobra reminds me of the red cobra for sale in the back pages of an old issue (early 70's) of Motor Trend. Maybe in 1971?
I dunn'o, does $10,000.00 seems right for that time period? It was identical (red, no stripes, front bumbers, and no hood scoop, (POSSIBLY CSX3187)) except that it had white side pipes. I wish I still had that old magazine today, or $10,000.00 back in 1971 to purchase it even better.

I haven't seen that particular ad before. If you find it, please post a pic and maybe I can determine which car it was.

Ten grand seems a bit high for 1971 (more like $8K), but their values were already starting to climb by then. That price seems about right for 1973-74.

CSX3359 was the second-last Shelby 427 Cobra ever made. It sold for $1.55 million USD at RM Auctions Monterey in 2014, but did not sell at Bonhams Monterey 2017 at a high bid of $1.36 million USD. Anyone who could afford the steep price of a 427 Cobra back in the day has sure seen his investment appreciate...

That's a lot nicer than the crap you get at the calendar stores.  And you don't look like a scarecrow at all.  No straw sticking out of your ears.  Least not that I could see.

Nice job.  Like the Sept picture the best. Just rekindled my passion for Cobra's, but alas will always be just a pipe dream. With my messed up left foot, manual shift cars are out.

September is my birthday month, so I just had to feature my own car...

It's possible to get an automatic Cobra too, you know. They built a few of them back in the day, so it's not like it isn't proper to build a replica that way too.

Or you can always bum a ride in one, to see how you like it. You're in B.C., aren't you? There are quite a few Cobras out that way, and a semi-active owners club. I'm sure someone would be happy to share the experience with you.
