We start to see online the new cars built under the new "tiny" V6 turbo era starting with McLaren Jan 24, and Ferrari Jan 25. Indications are the cars will look very different, and not in a good way, in order to deal with the cooling and aero challenges.
Meanwhile Christian Horner thinks the retirement rate in the first race could be 50%!
http://www.autoweek.com/article/20140115/F1/140119886 The huge drop in fuel to 100kg is a big error for F1 in my opinion. Its going to make for artificial fuel economy runs and to what end. This is racing, have they lost their way in the purpose of doing this? Is racing only fuel economy? Is racing fuel economy at all? Is this politics designed to alienate racing fans? We will see. Race fans in North America KNOW how boring fuel economy racing is, we saw it in Indy Car but they learned and changed their races to avoid it.
And if indeed saving fuel is the primary purpose of holding a race, which I dispute...... There are hundreds of thousands of spectator passenger cars, idled for all of daylight, when many of them would otherwise be out burning fuel, thereby saving immense amounts of fuel net of the race cars' usage, at every race. Racing saves fuel!
But then the issue is, why should we as racing fans be forced to care! The track is not the subject or the place for it. Would "they" ban racing if these silly rules were not brought in? Not likely.
