Genesis GV80 Coupe

GV80 was fine looking.

Not sure why they felt the need to make this?

Rear looks odd to me.

Also..it's still stupid when companies call SUVs coupes.

Jumping on a dumb German trend. Except they seem to sell, so my thinking it's dumb doesn't count for squat.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

They are objectively stupid, and I find the German ones particularly ugly, but for some reason it really works for the GV80.  If I had little need to max out cargo volume, I'd rock one of these.

My neighbour just got a white GV80...first time I'd seen one in person (I have no idea where she got it, we don't have a dealer here), and it is GORGEOUS in person.

I don't particularly like SUVs.

But as you say, the GV80 looks good.

This coupe thing is a definite step back IMO. There's something about it that displeases my eye.

Excuse to charge more for the product. Some people like the looks, although in almost all cases I think they look worse. I actually quite liked the original X6 but after that, meh.

Annoys me that the Cayenne GT is only available in the coupe body style.

Agreed.  Except for liking the original X6.  :-X

The vehicles themselves might be objectively stupid, but from a business standpoint, building high-profit products that people will buy is the exact opposite of stupid.

I agree that the GV80 is a really good looking SUV, but the vehicle in question is not the GV80.  While not as horrible looking as some (all) of the German "coupes", there is simply no way in hell I'd buy it over a GV80.  Or a G80, for that matter.  But again, just because I am not the market for this thing doesn't mean there isn't a market for this thing.

I'm sure it'll sell just fine, but I refuse to buy a "coupe" CUV that is just a compromised, uglier, and more expensive version of the original CUV design.

Agree, they did a good job with this one IMO, and I've never got the German ones either.

Genesis seems overall to be going for an 'improved German' theme

I was recently having this conversation with some car friends; I think the Q8 and Cayenne Coupe pull off this crossover coupe trend pretty well. Everything else; it's not for me but hey, manufacturers aren't out there catering to what enthusiasts think is smart or dumb. They're out there to rake in many dollars in profits, and the market has spoken with regards to these designs. People want them; they all sell.

What I do enjoy is when someone goes on about how "the Pontiac Aztek is the ugliest car EVER MADE" because the Internet told them so, and then they go out and buy a GLE Coupe or an X4 xDrive30i...

The Q8 is less coupe like than most. Agreed that it looks quite good, unlike the Q5 Sportback.

I have to say, the SQ8 catches my eye anytime I see one...

Yeah and especially the RSQ8 in bright colours (deep purple, lime green, orange, etc.)
