Yes did some digging on the trader. Looks like same car spec year mileage is about 38-39k. Tight range.

Actually weak resale for this market IMO. No real premium to the Pilot at all.

Not sure what we’d replace it with. The simplest thing is to get a 2018 of the same car. (CarPlay)

Boring. I know. But I can reuse my winter tires and it feels like all the other choices are bad value.

I don't think that will be close to a write off. A few suspension bits (cheap) and some bondo and a quick spray. Done!.  ;D

Man, the new generation MDX is awfully good and would be a decent upgrade from your 2017.  No idea what the availability would be for a new one.  I wouldn’t limit yourself to your generation MDX due to winter tire set up, I mean you could resell them pretty easily right now.

Just a money issue. Not in a spending mood. But maybe new is the way to go if you can get supply right now.

That's not a write off on the face.  Wheels of that gen fit the new gen.  But wheel sensors don't work.

50/50? or less?

They should be coming to get it on Tuesday then we'll probably find out by end of the week.

Car is "White Diamond Pearl", wondering if the paint alone would be $5k.

They won't paint the entire car. A splash and dash and some blending. Insurance style.

Boy that sure does not look like a write off to me. I looks like damage to bumper and rear quarter panel. The wheel is also knock out of kilter. The wheel, axle differential part may be expensive but I do not see how it could be the end of the whole car. Does not look like the uni-body would be out of wack at all.

But I agree it sucks. If repaired you now own a depreciated car just because of the accident. It seems unavoidable. I do not think insurance companies will ever compensate you for the money you lose when you try and sell it.

I had a really bad hit in 2009 to a 2005 Mazda 3 where the rear wheel was knock completely out of kilter. It was repaired. Granted it was a front wheel drive. It was hit just parked on street in front of out house.

Sold to a friend in 2017 and they are still driving it.

Sorry to see, definitely not good timing. I am doubtful it'll be a write-off, yeah, there's a fair bit of damage to deal with there, but let's assume a conservative replacement value of $35K, you need $17.5K+ worth of damage to be in write-off range.
The mechanical bits, even if the fancy diff is shot, are easy and relatively cheap...and I can't imaging parts availability being an issue on this. It's going to be the cosmetic paint and body work that's going to add up, but I'd be surprised if this comes in north of $15K in damage.

Sorry to hear. Yes there's insurance, but it's always just a PITA to deal with all of the variables surrounding such an accident.

Also, I'm in for the over/under, but I've got $11,500.
