Absolutely - and props to Pritch who is a far better photographer than I could ever be.

...but that console (the "gloss-black panels") is going to be a scratch magnet.  I liked Porsche's good matte buttons (even though there were far too many of them :P).  :-\  Progress?

Do we know why the Panamera is a 4-seater only?  My FIL didn't consider this solely for that reason (along with the RS7).

Maybe as my tastes change....or my eyesight is failing, I am actually beginning to like the looks, and understand the appeal, of this thing. Still think the RS7 does the "coupe" thing better, but this is no longer in the Fiat Multipla category for looks.
Lighten up Francis.....

Yeah, I think it's a bit of a shame that Porsche has marred the Panamera name a bit by creating such an ugly first gen.  It's a seriously good automobile and now looks quite good.

I like the Panamera, oddly enough. The second generation managed to largely get rid of most of the reliability issues and awkward styling of the first generation.
I'd still likely go RS7, I think.
On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

It's not fair to say that the name has been marred; the first gen Panamera sold well and was well reviewed despite its somewhat awkward rear end.

I wouldn't say marred either. Its not a name like Aztek, Pinto, Tempo, Sunfire, Neon, or something that has really bad memories attached to it. The first gens weren't beautiful, but as far as performance went, they could still lift their skirts and boogie when called upon.

There's different degrees of "marred".  I'm not suggesting that the Panamera name should be killed off... I'm just suggesting that the first gen had TopGear, for example, making some pretty serious comments about living the car, but being completely unable to look at it.

I look at it like this - we wouldn't have the present generation to lottery-dream about if the first gen didn't exist.

As for the vehicle itself, not that I'd EVER be able to own one, but it would irk the heck out of me if the interior of my $130, 000.00 vehicle was constantly covered in fingerprints.  Beautiful cabin as others have mentioned, but those unsightly inevitable fingerprints..... ???
