I'm a bit all over the place, but do like the silverado crew cab 4X4 with the 5.3, but I like the ridgeline's size as well.

When the lease comes off the BMW I'm thinking about switching to a truck + summer car (i.e. no back seat). I like the idea of the utility of a truck...

AB, yes I'll need to take them for a spin.
I love it when a plan comes together.

One of my best friends has an older Ridgeline and it's awesome.  Fuel economy is good, reliability is fantastic (once you know the few things to look out for and keep up on) and it drives and handles better than pretty much any other truck.  He uses it to visit construction job sites and he needs the bed to ferry tools and stuff around - nothing huge, but truck-duty stuff for sure.  Since he spends a portion of his day in it, he wanted something comfortable and has zero regrets about buying it.

Thanks, any particular reason you would suggest the Ford, since you have the Chevy ? Let's pretend BWII is not reading this? :)

Only used "full-size and full-size-ish" trucks I'd consider would be GM 5.3, Tundra or Ridgeline.

Because of the largest rear seating ,
GM rear seating is not as larger, and does not have a flat floor

I have last generation of GM truck , it is a extended cab, which sucks, but 99% of time I am only one in it , but the back is filled with hard hat, tools, extra work clothes
Front brakes were changed this week , and a couple rear seals replaced , at 135,000 km,
It needs a new sensor on the streering , as the  traction control light is on, but that like $300 to replace , fack that, besides oil changes and a new set of tires that has been it
I avg about 16-17 L/100km, mostly hiway, but I have a ladder on the truck and a cap that is filled

I friend with the new generation, he will be down in the 10-11 on the hiway, he does run empty a lot of times, he has a sheet metal company and a farmer so he needs a truck to carry stuff
My son has a 2011 Ford crewcab 5 L, has no problems with it , I like my interior and seats better
I know 3 guys that Ram Ecodiesel, and they  swear by them , and they have had Fords and GMs in the past  I do like Ram interior

I have said this before , you can not go wrong with any of the trucks out there
It really find the one you most comfortable in

The main reason I got my GM in 2011, it came down to it was the best price , $16 gs on the hood, they give best price for the trade in, about $3 gs more , and my cab fit the new truck , saving of $3gs by not getting a new cap

That is the best advice. Drive them all and buy what you like. If I had to replace the Ridgeline I am not sure what I would do. I could see getting a 3.5 Ecoboost crew cab Lariat F150. I would have to relocate my workshop bench in the garage which would mean building a small shop... Or I could just park on the driveway and fill a bay with motorcycles...

I find it impossible to find any kind of desirable used truck in my local market.  They get traded in and go onto car carriers to the USA the next morning.  There is about a 35% currency advantage.  My understanding is that the Canadian dealer takes 17.5% and the US one takes the other 17.5%.

There are a few 2015 F150s on Auto Trader, but they have the tiny infotainment screens or are accidented.

I am reading that the US has a surfeit of used vehicles that is rapidly growing, so I hope the situation resolves itself soon.  Ain't paying $50k for a new pickup.

Thank you for introducing the word surfeit to me.
