Early Christmas gift from my mother in law:

Very nice selection of whiskeys I knew nothing about. All are quite interesting tastes.

^ What's a bottle of MM go for at the LCBO?  I believe it's $48 here at our ANBL stores.
$44.95 is the regular price & what I paid today.

LCBO has it for Ontario, I think.

I pretty much agree with this review here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Scotch/comments/5ocqal/review_3739_bruichladdich_wee_laddie_tasting/

IMO not really for fans of mellow whiskeys (my wife prefers the Glendalough Double Barrel we got at the same time), but great if you like stronger and more complex flavors.

Saturday night was my office's holiday party.  They had the Port Charlotte, and the other offerings were sh!t.  I had 8oz of it.

...and then another 4 shots of who knows what my coworkers gave me.  Made it home, made it to bed, then woke up at 4am and :hurl:

All in all, a great night.  The Port Charlotte was nice, but not really outstanding.

8oz. @ 50% Alc/vol. that'll do it!

Did a very good tasting at Foursquare, one of Barbados three rum distillers:

Settled on the one limited run overproof they had,

Will probably be picking up a Doorly's XO from the supermarket for the flight home

I drank a lot of booze over the NYE weekend...

...and yet, the only "good" thing I drank was a dram of Macallan 12 - good, not the best, but good.

I sadly forgot one bottle of Lindeman's Cuvee Renee in the trunk of the fozzie...what a faking mess -20'C weather made to that bottle (and the trunk liner, which was an easy clean at least).  Wife's livid since she wanted to gift that bottle to her boss (who is Belgian - or in her words, "Belgish").  Hopefully I can find a store in Vermont next week that carries it so I can bring 'er home.  I know there was one such store in Ithaca, so perhaps Vermont will have it, too, like:

I'm a big fan of the whiskeys coming out of Japan and Korea.  Unfortunately they seem to be getting "found" by more folks so most are sold out here in Quebec.  Lucky for me I was in New Brunswick over the holidays and NB Liquor had some holdovers from their big whiskey / scotch show.

Finally found some Hibiki Harmony and picked up two:  https://www.anbl.com/hibiki-harmony-750ml-25170

Also picked up some Nikka Taketsuru and a Kavalan Concertmaster.

I prefer the Nikka, and it's harder to find.  Hibiki is well-stocked 'round here.  Never heard of Kavalan.

Got some Laphroaig Quarter Cask over the holidays.  It was a gift.  I was hesitant to try it because of it's peaty/smoky reputation, and I had recently tried the Talisker Storm, which was WAY too smoky to be enjoyable for me.  However, the Laphroaig was relatively subtle, and I loved it.

That's an oxymoron.

Nothing about the Islay drams are "subtle" :P

My coworker was in Florida for the holidays and brought back a 60oz bottle of Glenmoragie Original.  Looking forward to tomorrow after work ;D

Even relatively subtle can't describe the peaty nature of Islay drams :P

The Quarter Cask is less peaty than the regular offering.  Smoother too.  But yeah, not exactly subdued.
