May 8th

Ford Motor Co. marked a milestone Friday when the final Focus sedan and C-Max Hybrid rolled off the line at Michigan Assembly Plant -- one the automaker would apparently rather not acknowledge.

The last day of production wasn't met with any official celebration. No TV news crews. No final group photo, unlike other products that have recently reached the end of the road.

In fact, the only recognition of the occasion came earlier this year, in a government-mandated letter to the state listing the amount of time workers will be furloughed as the factory is retooled to build new vehicles.

It was a quiet, unassuming end for two products that were meant to fundamentally change the Blue Oval's U.S. business.

looks like GM is starting to follow Ford.

Another week, another car for which the bell tolls. Not long after Ford said it would drop most of its cars in North America and General Motors signaled the end for the Cadillac ATS sedan, Chevrolet has just announced that it will end sale of the Sonic in Canada following the 2018 model year run in July.

I think I will miss Ford cars but I certainly won't miss GM or FCA.
Thinking about I have only driven one Mopar product, one of their best, a 1975 Valiant with a slant 6.  And one GM, the first of the 'downsized' Impalas in 1977... that was a good car compared to the previous huge boat.   Both of these Montreal to TO  and back.

drive an Abarth 500 - they are a hoot

as for GM, yeah other than the Camaro or the ATS...not much to say of their current lineup
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Chaos, I spent a 2 week vacation in the '60s with 3 friends and camping gear in a REAL Fiat 500.  Wasn't an Abarth sadly but it zoomed along ok even loaded like that.     No need to repeat the experience with a bad copy with the engine at the wrong end.

why even have one car? Nobody wants to buy them anyways, because we all want CUVs. Cars are soooo 2002.

Blue Oval spokesperson Sam Schembari confirmed to us Wednesday that production of the current Focus ended in May of this year, despite building significantly more Focuses in April 2018 (23,604) versus the same month last year (15,712). As of July 1, Ford also reported 123 days’ supply of Focuses, which is close to double the industry average of 66............

I thought this was Ford’s strategy (production was bumped up in the past few months) to build up stock and keep the Focus around a little longer while we wait for the Active in 12 months or so...

March 3

https://www.autoblog.com/2019/03/03/last-ford-taurus-final/

The last Taurus was built March 1, 2019 in Chicago.  The Ford Taurus is no more. This isn't the first time we've said good-bye – Ford shuttered the model for a short time over a decade ago. The then-last Taurus was built at the Hapeville plant near Atlanta in October of 2006, and the closure of the plant followed.
