Mustang, Camaro, any Ferrari, etc,  make some noise. It's part of the experience. Pretty much anything else, quiet please.  ;D

Case and point:  Fusion Sport.  ZERO exterior exhaust note.....and fake engine noises pumped through the speakers.

I'm happy this thread came up again since I was just talking about the Stinger in a "Name That Ugly Car" conversation I had the other day.

sad to say, i saw the stinger on korean tv show yesterday, in motion, and it didn't really look fetching.
it doesn't look svelte and substantial like bmw 6 series,
it doesn't look smooth and clean like audis

at a glance it looks like fisker karma in profile, not a compliment,

it looks more like caricature of 'sports sedan' from ..say pontiac.  but then i know holden used to make decent looking rwd...

You are right.

Holdens and FPV vehicles were always understated and looked classy.  The Stinger looks like the designers put a bunch of bits from other sports sedans into a blender, hit the "pulverize" setting and called it a day.  The end result is a caricature of sorts.

Yeah, that sounds bad.

I want cars to sound like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdEW2qjtV0w

I'll take this for a V6 sound thank you:  https://youtu.be/QaTn3gaCQYk?t=5m43s

Save the V8s!!!

Fake engine noises are a sign of the apocalypse.  I don't care how anyone justifies this as some sort of means to an end, it's ridiculous.

Fake engine noises are the fleshlight of the automotive industry.

June 18th

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/kia/stinger/2018/2018-kia-stinger-gt-track-drive-review/

Overall I'd say that's pretty damned impressive.  And funny how in the aftermath of the Civic Type R, all of a sudden the Stinger doesn't look quite so over-the-top styling wise.  ;D

...that's not exactly "glowing" for the car's performance.

Quote
Our test cars were equipped with slightly stiffer European-spec dampers.) For track duty, I’d prefer a bit less roll before the weight is transferred, but I suspect I wouldn’t mind it on the road.
...
The handling limit default behavior is, predictably for a street car, mild to moderate understeer,
...
The steering itself, though not the greatest electric power steering on the market, is very good and the best Kia’s ever produced. The rack-mounted motor never lets the steering get too heavy, as many automakers tend to do when attempting to convey a sporty feeling, nor does it confiscate feedback from the road. Information from the front tires is muted, but it’s there, and it tells you what’s coming with enough detail to respond quickly. The ratio is variable, but it’s done mechanically in the gearing, so it never changes. Steering just off center is a bit slow,
...
Kia claims the all-wheel-drive car will have a performance advantage in poor weather, but on a perfect summer’s day it saps some of the car’s character. Adding roughly 155 pounds to the nose doesn’t help the car’s heavy feeling, nor does it help with the understeer on corner entry. What’s more, it erases the steering feel.
...
Although the 365-hp, 376 lb-ft twin-turbocharged V-6 has just the right amount of muscle for the car, it’s slow to respond at corner exit. The turbos seem to be at fault, judging by how slowly the boost gauge comes up. The lag is noticeable enough a work-around is needed,
...
As for the paddles, their response is a bit slow and inconsistent, and the gearbox will automatically upshift at redline, which always seems to arrive more quickly than anticipated.
...
Unfortunately, the front passenger’s seat is wider with fixed, less aggressive bolsters, allowing occupants to be tossed around more than they ought to.

Funny how if you deliberately exclude all the positive comments from a review, it can look negative.  ::)

Impressive, however I think its still premature to judge the car's fine points, as these are not the finished products. I've read Autoblog's review as well and it also mentions turbo lag/response. This will not compare well with the BMW 340 and especially the Mercedes C450 AMG which has virtually the same power, torque and 0-60 out of its smaller displacement 3.0 twin turbo. Small twin turbo V6's of only 3 or 3.3 L are there to provide instant response and mimic V8 attributes, assuming proper location of the turbos. Ron will know more about that with his vast turbo experience.

In other words, I think this issue will be fixed in the production model, possibly through software. Does the Genesis G80 Sport with the same engine have this issue, I don't think so as I haven't seen it commented upon.

I remember not that many years ago when Kia car reviews often criticized overly aggressive throttle tip in.  ???

My point wasn't to say it's a sh!t car - I was just highlighting the negatives, which the author tried to rebound off each one with something positive.  That doesn't make the review "balanced" - the problems remain.

I think the Stinger will be a great car and will be of little to no faults when considered as a Grand Tourer.  A 'ring star, it'll never be - nor was it ever the intention.

very excited for this car. Rwd/awd, turbo, long wheelbase, hatch, and not an FGC? Yes please. The 3.3T's sounds like a hoot but I'm not wild about its standard staggered tire setup; hoping that 2.0t awd version will be the scrappy, cut-price A5 Sportback I'm looking for.

production has started for their domestic market in South Korea with 1,294 Singers being built in June.  Nothing with regards export units.
