The French CBC's "La Facture" - equivalent to Marketplace, will air next week a piece on disgruntled QC Tesla customers who have peeling and thinning paint on their Model III's. The preview looked promising - not chips, paint is peeling off or thinning in road spray areas. Tesla blames our climate. Guess you can't correct paint OTA  ;)

Edit: link to the preview

Just watched the show. Consumer's Model III has such a bad case of panel alignment that most exposed edges have worn down paint  :rofl2:

A colleague from another car mag was interviewed and said that Tesla has the worst assembly quality of the entire industry

Class action suit being ramped up, Tesla telling consumers that climate-related damage is not covered by warranty. Tesla denied the interview request and the tone was MUCH tamer than Marketplace's.

Anyone really looked closely at these cars?  They're amazing in terms of tech, but made like garbage.

MY 2024, CR take:

Getting rid of turn signal and wiper stalks is a questionable choice at best...
Good decision on the suspension side though.

Test drove the new Model 3 a few weeks ago.   Very compelling at $50900 - $5000 rebate.  Even more compelling if you own your own home and can charge overnight.   Literally pennies per km.   After a decade of ownership, our Tesla is my wife's favorite product purchase.

I recommend a test drive, they are free, and you might be surprised how quiet and well built the new models are.   If you can't stand Tesla for whatever reason, there are plenty of competitors if you want to spend more $ and get a different (worse in many cases) experience.
