Also a note - I can't believe a manager in good faith would do something illegal like this! What a bunch of disgusting people...I'd quit my job on the spot and report it for sure.

How far does a person have to look to find horrible things that companies do to just their employees? Child labour, poor working conditions, etc. This is far from new.

So that makes it OK because other degenerate companies do this?  There's no excuse.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Not ok but IMO sits way down my list for world problems.

It's easy to whitewash it as not being a "world problem". It isn't. But it doesn't have to be a world problem to affect people in a negative way.

Sure. I just find it funny how people get bent out of shape over things like this or the Toyota gas pedal thing yet people don't care about things like the food industry which has a greater affect on their lives.

The Toyota gas pedal thing was not real, after market winter mats getting in the way of the gas pedal; certainly not something decided at the top of the management ladder. For VW it was deliberate cheating leading to dumping 40 times the NOx level allowed, not 4% over, not 40% over; 4000% over the limit FFS.

Everybody in the diesel industry hates VW for the now incredible level of scrutiny we get from the EPA and CARB. Software changes that use to take weeks to get approved now take months if ever they get approved.

VW deserves everything it gets.

Up to 40 times, which is an important distinction.

https://cbbestimator.vwcanadasettlement.ca/VW_WebServices/vw/index

Website is up and running again.

My 2011 highlline  sport wagon currently at 180km would be $20,500.
if i drive to 215km it would be $19,200....

..... ;D......

Just noticed it's up and running too!

My 2015 CL with 19,500km is only getting 23,390$, that's 7k$ in depreciation for 7 weeks of ownership pre-Sept 2015. The system indicates "2015 Golf Comfortline" from the VIN but doesn't show the convenience pkg or the DSG. It seems that the older the car, the better the deal...  :( Adding the compensation money equals to a full reimbursement.

According to Volkswagen, there will be no adverse effects from the software change to the vehicle’s performance, fuel economy, NVH, reliability or durability.

Then why in hell did they elected to install a cheater software??? ??? ??? ???

The answer is a few lines later  ;) Pouring more DEF is trivial, but swapping filters and catalysts will become expensive pretty quick. Reading between the lines, a low-km car may need two new catalysts before reaching 240,000km. Who would have bought TDIs if they knew the cars would need 1k$ emission parts every 120,000km? Running clean seems very taxing on certain emission components - now we know "Why?".

It'd be lovely if VW would fix all the unsold TDIs and start selling them......I'd have one.

I would expect unsold 2015's and bought-back / traded-in pre-owned 2015's will be fixed and put out to the market. The new cars pose more of a marketing challenge though...

I wonder what pricing will be like on the new 2015s.

EPA has now authorized VW to restart sales of new unsold 2015 TDI models, plus of the used customer cars from the same model year, once "phase 1" of the fix is done. That's for the US, we'll see what happens up here! So 12,000 new units plus 67,000 used cleared for sale... Marketing will be interesting!

The next "fix" should be for the Gen2 engine, only found in the US-built Passat before 2015 (has the DEF tank). I still expect all Gen-1 cars (Golf + Jetta 2009-2014) to be scrapped in the US - too much hardware to add.

I'd be interested to test one of these TDIs when they are back on dealer lots. Diesel is cheap where I live, moreso than petrol and my car mileage is mostly high-speed intercity. Perfect for me.......maybe.

The  :-X has hit the fan in the Ontario court today. The judge thinks the deal is "nowhere near" best interest for consumers. Lawyers from both sides now have to work together to convince the judge that this deal is indeed good for us. The judge does have a few good points: consumer laws would point towards a full refund, and some customers objected to the use of wholesale values instead of retail.

The earliest date for filing claims (if the judge approves the deal) is now April 28th.  :(

Interesting, a judge looking at the big picture.  If our judges were elected, you'd only get a ruling that someone had paid for.
