congrats on the newest Volt. Great car and indeed they have tremendous loyalty among their drivers, many drive theirs for a long time, and trade it in only for a newer one. My mom is one of those loyalists. She said the Honda hybrids "better be pretty damn amazing" to get her out of a Volt.
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

I must be missing something.  Did you get rid of the 2019?  Wouldn't this be Volt #3?

Let me recap for you, in chronological order:

2012 white Volt was #1: ordered from factory in 2012
2014 Spark Ev: almost new, bought in 2014
2013 blue Volt was #2: bought used (90K kms) in 2016
2019 red Volt was #3 : bought new in 2019
2014 brown Volt is #4: bought used (136k) in 2020

Cool! Is there a preference for the first gen? It's certainly more recognizable.

Cool! Is there a preference for the first gen? It's certainly more recognizable.

I find 1st generation more distinctive, drive better than 2nd generation, feel more composed, more "luxury" car to me in her road manners, without mentioning the nice "tumb" sound door do when closed...

I drove it again this evening and I can definitely say I'm enjoying more to drive 1st than 2nd generation Volt, even if less efficient.

Why did trade in 2012 for a Spark ?

I enjoyed so much driving electric, I wanted more (range) and the Leaf was not my cup of tea.. No more option in this era.
I now confess, I have a problem, I'm an EV addict  8)

In 2014? If I remember correctly, not yet..

Edit, Soul EV seem became to be available since spring 2015.

Volt #4 hits 150,000 km today, is it break-in period completed now?  :P

Half year of WFH make drop my usual 28,000 km/year down to 14K since last August...

I miss my little Volt. Been on the hunt for another. I actually bought a 2012 a few months ago from the auction but it got hung up in arbitration over a fault in the hybrid control module. Dealer just nuked the deal and I never had a chance at it.

I saw my ex- Volt #1 at my Chevrolet dealer this morning (VIN matched). it was a 2012 white diamond and it still one of their courtesy fleet cars since 2014 when I (stupidly) exchanged for the Spark EV, dumb move it was  :'(

The Gen 1 Volt might be the best car GM has ever built.  I still like the design.

Voltec 8 years / 160,000 km warranty officially over by now. She is still going strong. I'm flabbergasted how low kms I drove since I bought Volt #4 compared to  pre pandemic yearly I was used to drive...

The 2 years update of
RRocket's (Ugly?) Red Robot 2 Year Update!
, make me think about my Volt #4, drove only 33,748 km since August 2020, she now has 170,000 km.
Lifetime average was 2.36L/100km, almost the same by now at 2.19L/100km.

Suspension struts & shock replaced because I wanted to, otherwise only basic maintenance, tires seasonal change and brake cleaning. So far, so good.
