2022 Ram 1500 Classic
« on: March 06, 2024, 11:03:24 pm »
well, I own a Dodge Ram 1500.  weird, of all vehicles.

it was just delivered to my place this evening and just passed the 10k mark.   Besides 2 small dings on the driver door, it looks brand new, pretty much is.
Super happy with the purchase.  I'm not used to drive a truck, it has been a long time so it will take a while. I'll transfer my dash cam from the lexus too.

The specs I wanted:
v6 3.6l with 3.55 limited slid diff, heated package, remote start, back up sensor, keyless, tech package.

I do have to shop for couple things.
- Hard tonneau cover
- floor mats, there are none, I still have the plastic covering the floor
- A good country music Playlist

more pics to come when I have time

Did the SUV not have enough cargo space? Or did you just want a truck/something different?

thanks  guys!

both.
the lexus is not that spacious for some stuff we do.  also work around the house and picking up materials, something as simple as a sheet of plywood, ikea furniture gets complicated a bit with a suv.  just having the box is useful.  Also bring bikes around with the small BBq for camping/Picknick..

from what I've read the 4wd auto acts more like a 4AW(lsd/clutch) in front.  and 4wd lock is all time and not to be used on hard surface and below 70mph?   I've looked and none of the  1500 classic has the auto.

You are correct.  Slippery surfaces only for 4wd lock.   You'll be driving around in 2wd most of the time, anyway.  Great opportunity to teach your kids how to handle a RWD vehicle in the snow....

Very nice, and likely one of the more simple/reliable options out there right now.  May you get many years of happy trucking.

It's been a long time since I've own a truck, I'm used to FWD.   I'll be driving like a grampa for a while, although the traction control in 2wd works pretty good.

And that 3.6 isn't too torquey off the line, so it shouldn't be too much of a handful, even with the 3:55 rear end. If you had the 3:92 diff, then maybe it would be a little more punchy off the line. My Wrangler had the 3.6 with the 3:73 rear end & a 6spd manual, it would pull decent off the line and I could break the tires loose on the 1 - 2 shift if I was aggressive enough, but still not a lot of torque down low, I think it peaks around 4500 - 5000rpm?

Nice buy. You nailed it, having a truck box is awesome as you can just chuck bikes in and go, no messing around with racks and attachments. The roomy back seat makes this the practical do it all sedan type thing. There is a reason they are so popular.

That looks nice. Love the colour!

It's called   Patriot Blue Pearl.     That was the selling point,  you don't see that color often and every other trucks are either black or white.
