They are seeking to stiffle UNFAIR competition. Variously, China does not follow labor laws, environmental laws, they use forced labor, child labor, pay low/no wages, steal/copy intellectual property and patents, etc

Chinese-made cars are here, They've already surpassed the West in battery technology. Competition like this is necessary; nobody wants $90,000 EVs. Let's have some affordable options. If they're not very good, nobody will buy them. Let the market take care of itself.
