God damn them all!
I was told we'd cruise the seas for American gold
We'd fire no guns-shed no tears
Now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier

We had a blast belting that one out at a few pubs down in Halifax back in the 80s.

So I was told when I recovered.  ;D

"The Mary Ellen Carter" always got me going.  "Rise again!"   :D

Good one.

"The Idiot" and "Make and Break Harbour" hit a bit too close to home for me.

Yep, lot of hours well wasted in places like the Lower Deck and the Bonny Piper from '77-'81  ;D

I was in the Old Triangle in Halifax a couple of years ago with my daughter and her boyfriend. I think they were shocked I knew the words to just about everything that was played.

Watch some of those 'first time flippers' shows, the people seem to be deliberately incompetent, purely for the drama.

I was watching one some early Saturday morning, it was one of those 'we have 5 days to renovate our bathroom' things.  Day 1 started with them getting up at 8 am to cook breakfast before starting demo.  Needless to say, they hadn't even removed anything from the bathroom, such as towels, soap, shampoo, etc.  I was thinking, if it was me, I would have emptied all the shelves the night before, and breakfast would have been coffee at 6:30, but I know it's all scripted for tension and drama, but it made the whole show seem stupid.

Who wouldn't want to swing a big sledge & take out some walls, ugly cabinets, etc.
But.. our stuff is all in excellent shape so Habitat for Humanity will come in and remove it all for free.  Also, we are not changing the layout so no smashy smashy.

^ yes.  If we go ahead with all this it will be a combo of doing some work ourselves and some for the pros.
Co-ordinating all that is a PITA but also much fewer $100 bills out of my pocket.

Reno's are such fun....snowball rolling down the mountain.... If we're replacing the kitchen, maybe we should do the hardwood in living room.... and replace the windows.... and....

Saw an interesting email scam this morning.  Our company website lists our accountant and general manager on the webpage, with email addresses, which I know is not a good practice.

Someone obviously harvested the information, because this morning our accountant got an email from (ourgeneralmanager)@aol.com, asking her to keep this confidential, he needed her to handle this personally, and send $135,000 USD to a new vendor we had just signed a deal with.

She asked me about it, and I said it's obviously a scam.  One giveaway is the email address, not our company email address.
And I added, the other giveaway is that there is no way that our general manager could write an email that was so well written with no grammar or spelling mistakes.

^ Needed more electricity.

House was listed yesterday, first showing is today. Local market is down a fair bit, so I'm taking this as a positive sign that the price is okay.

Was just now on Flightradar.com, checking progress of daughter's flight back from Tokyo, I see that Pratt & Whitney has a 747SP, obviously for testing, it's been looping from Montreal to Kapuskasing and back all day, obviously some testing.

Checked on her flight just after it was due to leave Montreal, noticed it was a CRJ regional jet, instead of the normal Dash 8; Flightradar showed expected arrival at 11:11 instead of scheduled 11:26, with the Dash 8.  So we headed out early to the airport, grabbed a coffee, pulled into the parking lot, walked in to the terminal, just as they opened the door to let the passengers off.    No wasted time there at all!
