Can't be that overpriced. They need the Phaeton Transparent Factory to build excess units for markets outside North America and just like the Conti GT, there's a waiting list.

Priced any lower, and there'd be a glut of them.

Anyone else catch the review of this car on Motoring 2006 tonight?

I swear I spat out some tea when I heard that, when driven floored, it gets

...

99 litres per 100 km! :fall:

Average driving at 29 l/100 km. Of course, if you can afford the car in the first place, who cares?

It may be overpriced. It may be built by VW. It may guzzle gas like an Irishman drinks. It may have arguable good looks.

All this aside - good glory, this is one heck-of-a-car. Alas - were I able to afford it, I'd have it in the driveway sitting right next to my Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Of course, I don't have one of those either, but I can dream, can't I?

All the instant fuel consumption gadgets do that.....they're more of a gimmicky toy and offer an general idea of fuel consumption.  The MDX does that too....99L/100km and when you coast....0L/100km.

The Q7 4.2 I test drove got 99L/100km when I started the ute. When it drove for quite a few km, it dropped back to 20L/100km!! :D

At top speed, the Veyron will drain the driver's bladder in less time than that.  It might even drain other things as well.

Just think of how long a straightaway you would need to drive the Veyron at top speed for 12 minutes!  :o  :rofl2:

Unless the 16 cylinders (with 4 turbos) run on pure air and sunshine.
