yea, the coated rotors are worth the slight premium...i got them for my car when i had my brakes done a year ago...well, the rears anyway, they didn't have them in the size needed for the fronts.

I wouldn't take my car to CT for service, but I do buy parts and tools there.

Oh well, let's hope the AGM battery I bought at CT lasts.

I got my WS80s from CT(used friend's employee discount) and everything went well.
Having said that, I would go to my local indie shop for all other maintenance work that I can't/won't do.

I'm looking forward to use my 3-ton jack (got from CT along with torque wrench and 1/2 drive deep sockets)  for the first time in a few weeks for tire switches!

The parts are the same parts you would get at Partsource.  Partsource is owned by CT.

Got them installed this morning and found out the rotors were on sale.  Saved another $40 on those.  I did however have to fight with them yet again about the pads being covered under warranty.  I'm guessing their weekend crew are not the brightest.  Anyway a quick chat with the manager solved that.  Didn't even have to put my swerver hat on to get it done.

Quick technical question...right after they were installed we did a bit of driving and when we parked at the liquor store I noticed a very distinct smell coming from the rear wheel area (where we had the brakes installed).  When I called CT and mentioned it they said it was the coating on the rotors and pads burning off and should be gone in a day or two of driving.  That sounded reasonable to me but thought I would shoot it on here to see if that made sense.

i'm not sure about the "coating", but i do think they are correct in that the smell will likely go away after a bit more driving (couple of days, whatever)...sometimes when they work on things, you can lubricants, sprays, cleaners, etc on the parts, and that might be what you are smelling as it "burns off".

You can avoid most of the smell if you clean the discs first really well with brake cleaner, but if not, it will just burn off after a day or so.

Thanks guys, I figured it was probably normal and I'll keep an eye on it if it continues longer than a few days.
