Man, that Ontario rebate is massive.  It puts the cost of this car right there with a loaded Mazda 3.  Incredible.

while the rebate is solid here, a loaded Mazda 3 GT is $28k...that's still $7k less than this A3 eTron....i'm not sure i'd classify that as "right there"...not saying it's not a good deal, but a Mazda 3 is still quite a bit less money.

Yep.  That was a great article.  It gave you the sense of what it's like to live with vs. just regurgitating the spec sheet.

I liked the comment on how it's between the TSI and GTI with more refinement than both.

GT + Premium + Tech package on the Mazda 3 GT pushes it to $32K. ;)

that's weird, i just built one earlier and the only package was the premium package...now there is a tech package...in any case, that vehicle is $29,029.75 (excluding tax), still quite a bit less expensive.

Tech is auto only, no?

I really like this vehicle, but that's no surprise since I drive a BMW X1, which is very similar in size.
If my wife and I were looking for a replacement for our X1 this vehicle would be on our short list.

Yes, with a manual it's no Tech.

Difference all-in price compared to the Audi is $7500!  A pretty substantial sum.

"Old habits die hard: I was handed a car with a full tank and empty battery, .."

After few months awaiting for the first year available in Canada a 2012 Chevrolet Volt, when I picked my only ever car ordered from factory (because there were absolutely none in inventory, anywhere at the dealership) June 1st 2012, the HV traction battery was fully charged but the fuel tank almost empty ...

Recharge the battery would cost the dealer $1-$1.50 but refuel it would have been $40-45 (35L).

Nice writing, keep going  ;D

Will Audi be offering more than 200 units for sale in Canada for 2018?

Really enjoyed reading that - thanks!!  I see it as good value, but not great even with the Ontario rebate. It'd take a lot of diving to make up for the extra cost compared to a Golf, which admittedly is no Audi - but how much is that really worth?

I like it.
