So, everything checked out OK on the XK8. The stain on the floor the guy saw in storage and thought was a PS leak must have been old because the Jag indie found no leaks. Sent the balance of payment today...now the wait for the auto carrier to deliver. ;D

Now to cover the cost......anybody want to buy a whaler?

Lovely jubbly, as they say!! Congrats! Very cool.

As Clarkson said, you'll never have to carry a wallet again.

The Jag got dropped off by the auto carrier at my friends shop last night. (I was tracking it from Quebec on their website)  From what i could see in the dark  with just a flashlight it is at least as good cosmetically as I'd hoped. I hope to get it on the hoist and have a good look today along with a testdrive  ;D

One issue I could see last night is tires. There appears to be enough meat left for at least one season or perhaps two but they are Michelin Primacy MX4 and only H rated so I may replace sooner than later. That sort of is depending on what other costs turn up today in the inspection.

Any nibbles on the Whaler yet? What's the power plant?

I haven't listed the Whaler yet as it's still shrink wrapped. I'll probably cut it open this weekend if the weather is halfway decent.  It's an '88 15 Super Sport with a 2006 Merc 60 2 stroke (oil injected).

I'd love to have the Whaler for my vacations in NB, but it's just not worth it for the 3 weeks a year I spend there.

If my brother ends up spending the summer there I'll try to con him into getting a boat.

H-rated will ride better than the V or Z-rated, as long as the load rating is high enough and you keep it under 220kph or so, you should be fine.  ;D

I got the car home this afternoon. It passed the NB safety inspection without issue. The tech said it was in remarkably good shape underneath. only thing he found was that it could use a new serpentine belt soon but it's not urgent. It drives well....amazingly squeak and rattle free for being nearly 20 years oldand I'm quite pleased with it

Everything seems to work with a few of exceptions.

The power antenna went up when I turned on the radio but now won't retract. Hopefully just needs a new mast and cable or maybe even just clean and lube rather than a motor
Neither key fob is working....a bit of a PITA but once again not earth shattering.
One of the three keys will not start the car. It turns in the lock and the ignition comes on but instead of the engine turning over you just hear rapid clicking.
One speaker has a bit of a buzz at higher volumes if you turn up the bass

here are a few "at home shots"  Sorry for the crappy photos (antique camera phone)

Awesome Graeme, can't wait to see it in the flesh.  Supposed to be sunny and 10C tomorrow, I fully expect an inaugural top down drive to take place.  :-D

I really like that colour. I can't remember seeing one painted like that before.

Congratulations, man!

Got a real soft spot for light greens.  They seem to have been abandoned completely.
