Kuhmo Solus HA-32 all-weather tire
« on: August 06, 2023, 03:27:08 pm »
I always gave this type of tire a wide berth, but looking at tires for the MIL it hit me - they're perfect for her.

In her 80's, she doesn't drive much and seasonal swaps are another thing that lands on us. She maybe uses her Rogue 5-6 times in winter. The snows are DOT-dated from 2009 (!!!!) and the all-seasons are from around 2014, so 8 ticking timebombs (a friend recently blew a tire on her aging Mom's car, tires were stamped 2011).

Putting $2k's worth of tires on a $7k car is not worth it, so I ordered a set of Kuhmo Solus HA-32's. They are winter-certified, so legal to use in winter in Quebec.

$890 all in.

I will probably be the one going for the install, so I'll see how they feel in the dry. At least we won't have to worry about a blowout on a gin run !

My little sister just put Kuhmo all weather tires on her Impreza.  They were recommended by Quattro tires, who she ordered from.  All in with install I think it was under $800.  She doesn’t want two sets of tires and has been using the factory all seasons which are at the end of their lifecycle.  So I recommended all weather, she likes them so far.

Put those on the kids Focus, two weeks before he met up with a buck. Soooo, can’t comment on tire performance. The tread was deeper than I expected and did look kinda silly on a Focus I thought.

We've got all weathers on 3 of our cars.

Don't see us going back to winters.

So the local tire shop told me to cancel my order as their supplier’s online inventory wasn’t up to date. They offered same-price installation if I could source the tires.

V1 was at $168, but I bought them at Quattro for $128 with free shipping!!

After this, MIL is not allowed to complain for a year 😂

They are going on a gen-1 Rogue awd, so they should look good on an SUV!

They just arrived, and the thread looks pretty aggressive!

"Made in China" - of course. The DOT code is made up of letters... Will take a closer look.

Interesting tire. I have only had Chinese tires once. I think they were Cashland. They wore a little fast but worse they blew out real easy with Montreal pot holes. The side walls were super soft.

If you want more in life you have to make an effort.

Kuhmo is South-Korean and a major oem supplier, even though their products are often manufactured in China. I would not touch the generic Chinese brands like Rotella though.
