Mrs Gurgie's New Ride
« on: October 21, 2017, 07:48:23 pm »
Well as most of you saw in the other thread about what to buy for ~$10k for my better half. Here is some pics of the car at home now.

Just a little recap, it's a 2011 BMW 323i, with 122k kms on the clock, 2 owner local Ottawa car. Car drives great, tight, responsive & in great shape. Had it safetied yesterday with no issues, e-tested & registered today.

Looks great! The older 323's looked terrible with cheap looking wheels, but your refreshed version looks great!

...and my adorable little Scottish terrier.  ;D

Seriously, nice find Gurgie. Our 2011 328 has been trouble free....hope you have a similar experience.
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

Thanks everyone. As much as she loved her Mini Cooper S, I think she's even more excited with the 323i! I'm really impressed with how tight, smooth, responsive & well balanced the car is! Will spend some time later today going over the owners manual & all the features, after my round of golf, lol!

Sailor, as part of my research into the E90's, I actually scoured this forum to read about your experience with yours. Though not the exact same drivetrain, it still was helpful & reassuring to read your positive posts. And I know Mlin32 has an 06 325i that's been pretty decent as well.

Once she decided that she liked these, I really looked for post 2009, after the mid cycle refresh. And I really was trying to find a 2011 in her price range, as it was the final production year. Figured that was the safest bet as all the kinks would be mostly worked out.

Interesting coincidence that this is replacing a Mini. Our 3 series replaced a 2009 Cooper S convertible that was written off just shy of it's 2nd birthday.

This.

IMO the E90 series BMW with the naturally aspirated I6 is probably one of the safer FGC bets. Stay away from the turbos and the fancy electronics.

Got it for $9,500 in the end, girl was asking $12k, but wanted it sold by Wednesday & we had cash in hand. Came with a set of 17" alloys for winters as well, no tires on it though.

Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach the man to fish and he wakes you up at 5 in the morning.
