2015 Detailing
« on: March 19, 2015, 01:31:22 pm »
So with spring right around the corner I thought it would be fun to see what everyone’s detailing plans are for the spring/summer.

What products will you be using?
Before and after pics?
Any new accessories? (ie. PC 7424XP, Griot’s, Meaguiar’s, foam cannons, pressure washers etc…)

I’ll start!

The cars I’ll be detailing will be my own (’15 WRX) and my wife’s mobile (’13 Elantra GT). I got the WRX in early October of last year and I was able to get one good wash & seal before the winter hit. The GT has been sealed and waxed throughout its short life.

My plans for both cars, are washing, claying, hand polish/sealant and wax. I had considered getting myself DA but with kid #1 on its way (late May) and already spending a good amount of $ on detailing, I decided to pass (for now).

Like I said earlier the WRX is new (I only put ~3000km in 5.5 months) and after inspecting it, it really doesn’t need any paint correction. The GT on the other hand could have used it but it wasn’t crucial, it does have a few surface scratches which should be taken care of by pooboy’s polish w/sealant.

Here are the products that I’ve purchased:

For washing/quick detail:
Wash: Mr. Pink (Chemical Guys)
Wash mitt: Chenille MF Premium (Chemical Guys)
Grit Guards (Eshine)
Waterless wash: Spray & Gloss (Poorboy’s)
Quick detailer: Spray & Wipe (Poorboy’s)

Towels & Applicators
MF towels: Premium Gold MF 16x16 (Chemical Guys & Eshine)
Applicators: 4.5” foam applicator pads (Meguiars) & MF applicators (Chemical Guys)

Claying
Clay: clay kit (Meguiars)

Interior
Interior detail: Natural Look (Poorboy’s)

Polish, Wax & Sealant
Polish & Sealant: Polish w/Sealant (Poorboy’s)
Wax: Natty's Paste Wax Original (Poorboy's)

For the wheels
Wheel cleaner: #821 AWC (Duragloss)
Wheel brush #1: detail mini brush – for in between the spokes (EZ Detail)
Wheel brush #2: soft bristles wheel brush – for the face of the wheel (Mothers)

All I know for sure is that I'll be using the Iron-X again on the GLI to remove the brake dust/iron particles...

Oh, and I might get a Rupes too...

Meh, detailing is such a waste of time!   :P   ;D

Given this winter, I'm looking EXTREMELY forward to get back into detailing season!

You should be able to take the S2K out by August!  :rofl2:

LOL, yup!  Might have it out by August, only to have to put it back by mid September due to early snow storms!   ;D
