Nicer weather today: hot, sunny and windy.

Bored and waiting for a fire to start, but if that doesn’t happen, should be a pleasant afternoon for a nice, long (and paid!) nap. :)

Nice little setup here. Acreage in the foothills, maybe an hour’s drive from downtown Calgary.

Looks like main house with tennis court, guest house, shop, shooting range (?) & motocross track.

Yeah, at first I thought it was a dirt karting track or something. Layout is more like a road course than a motocross track. But I’ve flown over it at least a dozen times now & have gone down for a closer look. Definitely dirt and definitely some (smallish) jumps there.

I saw a couple bikes there once, but maybe he’s got a dune buggy or something like that he runs as well? [emoji47]

I just got back from five days of introducing a group of people to mountaineering.  This is on the first day, getting crampons on.  That's me standing in the black tee shirt, amazed to be in a thin tee at over 2400M at the base of a glacier.  Even in summer, on the warmest day, in areas like this I'd have to have some insulation on.  Crazy weather, just crazy.

My wife just sent me this pic of elk eating apples off a tree down the block from our house.

It’s not uncommon to see elk here, but I’ve never seen them eating apples before. It’s actually illegal to leave fruit on the trees here, mostly because of the bears. Encouraging wildlife to hang out in a residential neighborhood is not a good thing.
