I would definitely get yearly Krown or Rust-Check treatment.  The rear fenders tend to rot out quickly on these trucks.

Why they don't use wheel well liners is beyond me.

I was thinking maybe some Rockguard paint in the fenders

I'm not sure that would be enough.  Moisture gets in between the seams of the metal, and they rust from within.  The advantage of Rust-Check is their yearly oil treatement seeps into those seams and displaces water.  I don't want to sound like an advertisement here, but I've lost track of how many Rams I've seen with rotten fenders, including this newer 'classic' body style.

yeah maybe I'll pay for that,  it seams reasonably priced

Ah ok. Out here I see lots of wheel wells where the paint is blasted away by rock kick up and then they rust.

Definitely an oil based treatment; Krown, Rust-Check, whatever. I'd avoid using a RockerGuard type product, it eventually fails and allows water behind it, then holds that moisture against the metal and accelerates rot. Plastic liners would be a good idea, and I bet they're available aftermarket, BUT I would only recommend plastic liners if you're going to keep up with the Oil spray treatments....Otherwise those plastic liners will trap moisture as well. Base case scenerio is the plastic liners with a regular application of oil based treatment behind them.

Absolutely stay away from rock guard/liner crap. It’ll look like garbage in short order and ruins the resale value. I see trucks with I’ll bid far less than without.

Know a guy with a 2007 Ram that’s survived 17 Alberta winters with no rust. Along with oil spray in the rockers he also pulls his taillights out twice a year and washes the backside of his bed sides. I’ve since done this with a few trucks and can’t believe the amount of rocks and dirt trapped in there.

I was thinking rock guard inside the fenders, not out on the paint,  just oil spray in the fenders?  okay then,

Oil spray in every nook and cranny you can. I’ve used fluid film with excellent results. When I pull tail lamps I also spray everything I can on the backside of the bed. Your generation Ram seems to rust in the rockers, tailgate bottom, fender bottoms, and of course the wheel wells.

The spray on rock guard will peel off in no time anyway if you're using the canned stuff from C-tire.  I used some on the front of the fenders of a utility trailer; 6 coats in total.  After 20km of gravel it was peeled right off.
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

Thanks! I looked at videos and the fluid film looks good. what if I already have a bit of surface rust at some places?(odd parts underneath) should i spray it directly on or take some of that rust off first?

I might a well to the highlander too I guess if we want to hit the 1M Km lol

Agree on the wheel well liners.

I made up something similar on my old 510 which didn't come with any, made a huge difference as you then could spray oil based stuff behind them in the nooks and crannies and the wheels didn't just force salt and grit right back in there

Looks like lots of aftermarket available

First issue,  the radio keeps deleting my presets.  Apparently it's a know issue with these so I'll have to bring it in for a software upgrade.   Annoying

Rams all come with fender liners. Fords do not and GM seems to be 50/50.
Enjoying the Alberta advantage

Is it an actual scratch? Looks like factory markings from a marker pen.

Thanks, I does look like a pen marking of some sort.  what would it be used? for quality control before it leaves factory?

it wears off just with the fingers

Depending, a swipe of a wax pen could signify a process in assembly is complete..one that isn't usually obvious to the eyes.

You'll also see paint marker on some critical bolts showing they've been tightened.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...
