I still hate it's stupid face.

I'd buy one in top trim 2.0T Touring.

Me too - assuming I can order one with the same bumpers as the Alfa Romeo Guilia I posted about yesterday, and then take it to an aftermarket bumper/grille place to get the face completely changed out.

Seriously...

Separated "jewel" headlights into what, at least 8 beams?  Check.

WTF is there to like about that?

I can comment on the headlights. Cause they have the same LED elements in the Civic Touring model which we have. And the light brightness and pattern is outstanding. The Touring models in the Civic and Accord have full LEDs  i.e. low and high beams.

There are other cars with fantastic LED floodlighting and yet they don't look like that.

Almost all new car look the same  :P
Not much you can do with a worn bar of soap,

Yup - Ford Fusion and the now-defunct Chrysler 200 share the same shape.  Who started this?  I think it was Ford...

I think the 2005 CLS was the first to adopt the current four door fastback shape.

It was a very pretty car at the time. Still is.

^^^ Yup - still gorgeous.

Great shape but I feel like the headlights have aged poorly.

I don't mind the grille so much. It's a little overwrought, but it could be worse - for one thing, Acura could've tried to slap a beak on it!

My own visual hangup is with the sloping rear fastback; I just don't think it works on a big sedan (same hangup i have with the A7 and, to a lesser degree, the CLS, which at least has RWD proportions). Now, put the fastback look in a smaller package, and it somehow works better; i think the Civic Sedan looks great.

That said, it sounds like the Accord is a gem in all other respects. I'm looking forward to test driving one next month when they come in.

My guess is it will be the nicest driving of the front-drive non-luxury midsize sedans.

I don't get the hate for the front end at all.  I mean, I don't love it, but it isn't horrible in any way.  Some versions of the Camry are just.... wow .. in comparison.

I do get that the sloping fastback is not to everyone's liking.  Some people detested the A7 when it came out and still do.  I instantly thought it was one of the most beautiful sedans on the road, and still do.  So that profile is about my fave thing about the Accord.

Shopping in the mainstream midsize segment right now the Accord would be the front runner for me - but I'd take a close look at the Mazda 6 with the new turbo 4 as well.

I didn't even know that the Accord was being refreshed/redesigned until I was at my friends' cottage just north of Huntsville.  We went into town to grab some groceries, when we passed by Huntsville Honda.  It's exterior is actually quite beautiful, being built right on top of some nice Canadian Shield rock (look at the bottom right):

On the little perch was a Honda I didn't recognize.  I thought it was just a Civic, and sincerely disliked the proportions and the face when seeing it "in the metal".

It wasn't until this thread was posted that I realized that the Accord was "new".

My friend sold his problematic 328i convertible and got this one last week.  1.5T Touring in grey that no-san hates so much.  He already put 1K on it, I put 1K on my Civic in 3 weeks lol.
Since he drives a lot, he loves the LKA and adaptive cruise.
I actually don't mind the looks inside and out; it would probably get my money if I was in a market for a non-luxury midsize sedan.

Took the 1.5T Sport for a quick spin this afternoon and came away very impressed. Didn't mash the pedal so can't say how loud the little 1.5T is at full throttle but the power in normal driving mode is adequate+. The interior looks and feels much better in person than in pictures. The dealer said they are expecting 2.0T's sometime in January. I will be back to Kanata Honda to try that out.
