I am a car guy too...

but sitting in traffic is a waste of a Porsche or a Supra. Bumper to bumber, creeping along...1st to 2nd to 3rd to 2nd to stop....etc.

Save the beastie for the weekend when you can really unleash her on some back roads and enjoy it.

Boring commute on boring roads with boring traffic conditions calls for a boring car. An EV fits the bill for me.

But hey, to each their own.
For me? If it came to that?

I'd find another job...that's how much I like a nice drive. Life's too short...

Shitty commute + lifeless car?  No thanks. Ever.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Agree with all the comments...
sometimes one dosent have a choice on where our job is.
EV's have after many years given us the option to break the dominance of big oil in the transportation business and its welcome

I have a really nice freeway drive on the way home....if I had a proper car with 300+ hp I would not have a licence. I think an EV removes that wanting to drive like a hooligan because it sounds like the thing you make daiquiris with.
Lighten up Francis.....

I can confirm that a Tesla does not blunt the sensations of driving fast in the left lane, it's a rush, even without sound.

An updated battery study based on crowdsourced data from Model S and Model X owners suggests that Tesla’s battery pack will still have 80% capacity after reaching 840,000 kilometers

http://www.teslarati.com/tesla-battery-life-80-percent-capacity-840km-1-million-km/

Quote
Tesloop, a city-to-city Tesla shuttle service available in Southern California, had its first vehicle reach the 483,000 kilometer (300,000 mile) mark with only $11,000 in vehicle maintenance costs.

Quote
“Over the last two years, we have seen that that electric, supercharged vehicles can be deployed at utilization levels unheard of with gas vehicles,” Tesloop said in a statement. “And while saving over $60,000 on fuel and maintenance is a substantial economic win, we feel the bigger win is that this car is ready for another 900,000 miles over the next 6 years under its current warranty.”

Anecdotal : Our 4 year old Tesla has 100,000 km on it, and charges to 97% original capacity (actually 97.6%, but who's counting).

Autopilot partially to blame in fatal accident

http://www.thedrive.com/news/14269/ntsb-says-limitations-of-teslas-autopilot-played-a-major-role-in-fatal-2016-crash

why my Tesla wont have this "feature" - also, I save money as well as my life = win!

if you are too distracted or tired etc. to need a robot to try and drive for you, you should not be on the road
If driving an Alfa does not restore vitality to your soul, then just pass the hospital and park at the morgue to save everyone time.

Now drives a Jaaaaaaag...and thus will not pay for anything during an outing...but it is OK, because....I drive a Jaaaaaag.

Tesla listened and changed the software to restrict usage to those who keep attention via steering pressure.

For all the freedom loving folks here, you'd think there'd be jeers for this restriction?
What's next, governments forcing electric cars on us, the horror.

The human brain is a funny thing.  Think of the massive variance in capacity.  Humans went to the moon and built the internet and have made amazing discoveries in mathematics and knowledge of space and time.

No computer even approaches the human mind for it's incredible range of ability.  So, you have to wonder why we'd be working on computer driven cars.

Then you meet a Trump supporter.

If Tesla are that great why is there so many low mileage ones for sale ?
That I could afford any of them
http://wwwa.autotrader.ca/cars/tesla/on/etobicoke/?prx=100&prv=Ontario&loc=M9C+5J1&fuel=Electric&sts=New-Used&hprc=True&wcp=True&inMarket=advancedSearch&rcs=0&rcp=75

They've made some real strides in dealing with quality control issues, but I understand that some buyers didn't really understand the limitations of the EV vs an ICE car in terms of "fueling" time, and so on.

Interesting drag race contenders...

yeah nice to see the Tesla still stomp, but the rest of the field came right where I expected to them to come honestly...no surprises there

Some people have lots of patience to deal with sxxx like this! Seriously?! It’d be out of my garage by the 3rd time I had to call the service dept for help.

The problem is two fold. People forget that new car companies are also new to servicing vehicles and doing warranty work. It's well documented that Tesla dealer/service network is weak...it's not the well oiled machine other manufacturers service departments are in fixing issues. As near as I can see, these should be easy fixes. And if they struggle with that? That's worrisome IMO.

And it's only going to get worse if they sell a have number of, Model 3s.

Funny what you wrote given that the Ford Explorer (along with a few other models) are now part of class-action lawsuit over exhaust gases entering the cabin. I ditched my '13 for numerous quality issues and parts failures, but I did encounter that issue too virtually any time you punched the throttle - like on-ramps to highways.
