Algonquin Park Road Trip
« on: February 20, 2018, 10:05:20 am »
Hey guys, I made a video of my road trip to and around Algonquin last year, hope you like!

I stayed in Kinmount for a couple of nights, went up through Dorset, through the park, and around Bancroft and back.  Did the route twice actually because it was so good, and there was a lot to explore.  Can't wait to do another trip this year.  If you live in Southern Ontario you'll know that good windy roads are few and far between, so out in the sticks feels like heaven!

The FZ-09 isn't a perfect long distance tourer by any means, but it's good fun nonetheless.

^^ Well done Bob.
There are some spectacular driving roads in that area. Try East of the big park on #60 Eastbound to Eganville. Hyw #118 is also a good road - East from #11 towards Canarvon. And, of course Hyw #114 East from old Hyw #69 through the town of Rosseau and link to Hyw #11.
I have some property on the North side #118 just South of Bigwind Park Provincial Park. A great area for cycling and camping.

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Awesome, I'll definitely head up that way again.  I was reading about that road to Rosseau.  Next time I have to go to Ottawa on business I'm gonna ride through this way.

Another great loop is to continue onto Calabogie from Bancroft and then take the 511 down to highway 7.

If you timed it right you could meet up with some Ottawa folks at the track.

Rosseau to Huntsville via Hyw #3 is a crazy good road.

Good on you for doing a solo trip!

...AND FOR SAVING THAT TURTLE!!

I'd be worried about how waterproof your cellphone is and how secure that mount is, but seemed to work perfectly for you!  Nice.

Mount is very secure.  Have used them in the past off road.  They also make a rubberized mesh to REALLY hold your phone in there if you need it.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

Terrific vid!

Thanks everyone.

Yes No-San, I'm amazed that my old iPhone 5 survived both downpours with no real protection!  As Ron says, the RAM mounts are very secure.
