This may be a stupid, impossible question, but what's the average lifespan for an OEM all-season tyre? I guess the bigger question is, if I buy a used car with 25000km on the clock, how much life might be left in the tyres?

Are we talking about a Hellcat or a Hyundai here?   :)

40,000 kms +/- 20,000 kms

The majority of OE tires suck anyway so factor in buying proper tires just because.

Look at the tires that are on the car & then check the manufacturers website to see what the wear ratings are.

Year 7 with my Ridgeline with 70k kms on the 3 season rubber. I am at 8/32s so probably will get 110-120 k kms (Michelin M/S). Wow.

Most of my experiences says OEM rubber lasts 40-50k kms.

The Pirelli Rossos on my Volvo V70R lasted 18k kms.  ;D

Yeah the answer is always "it depends".  Don't expect the 100,000km + treadwear claims made on other tires.  OEMs I'd say will always crap out at 60,000km or under - usually under.  I think 40,000km +/- 20,000 was a fair comment.

My 3's OE all season tires probably lasted about 60,000 km? I was ready to throw them away at 40,000 km.

I used to find 50-60k kms to be fairly typical.

In the case of the XT, 5 months   :rofl2:

Did not want to trust them into the rainy season, let alone winter, based on user reviews.

I make sure that they're well used!  Exhibit A and B:  My track tires before and after LOL:

Seriously, though, OE tires are typically crap per what ktm525 and quadzilla said.  The manufacturers want to get you through that all important 1st test drive and who cares if they're shot at 40,000 km?  :-/   My wife's Q5's tires are due for replacement and they've got maybe 30,000 km on them.  Cheap Dunlop V-rated all-season SUV tires.  Why do you need a V-rated tire on an SUV anyway ??

I'm at 80K KMs with the tires on my Mazda 3, only used in summer months.

I'm not QUITE due for a replacement yet but I'd say these will last another 10K before they need to be replaced.

HMMM  My Q5 came with Michelin Latitude or which there are 3 versions, maybe 4 in the right size. I am sure the car came with the cheapest ones which are 235-60 H 18.  At 38000 kms they are only 1/4 worn  but that 38000 is probably only 20000 kms as I use winter tires.

In fact I am surprised at the lack of wear, completely flat across the tire as well, someone at Inglostadt obviously built the car straight.

You lucked in.  We had Contis on my wife's last Q5.  They were quieter and handled better than the Dunlops.  It's a crapshoot what you will get, either Michelin, Continental, Dunlop or Goodyear were available in the 2014 model year.  Next time, on delivery day, if I don't like what's on the car I will insist they change them with another car on the lot with the tires I want.  Assuming the same rims, of course.

BTW, funny you should mention that they wore evenly.  Look at the pictures of my worn track tires on my TT.
