Weird thing with the X5 last night.
« on: March 21, 2018, 05:49:41 am »
I stopped to eat after driving about an hour. When I restarted the car and continued I started to get a weird sound. It was as if the fan was ramping up to a high setting but no additional air was coming out the vents. I'd get the noise for about 7-10 seconds and the it would stop for 15 seconds and then repeat. It did this steadily for 15-20 minutes until I got to my destination. It did this whether or not the climate control was on auto or manual settings. It was gone when I restarted the car later and did not reoccur on the drive home (90 minutes)  ???
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.

I'm seeing a bright future for this thread.

Well, nothing abnormal noticed while driving short trips around town today. Why do I now feel like I have the sword of Damocles hanging over me?

It's a BMW.  If the cooling system is intact, stop worrying.

You seem to have all the FGC issues that doesn't really affect day-to-day driveability.
I will have to ask my friends who have X5 and XC90 if they have a lot of non-engine issues with theirs.
