Am disappointed I missed it...

Apparently a number of people who live nearby thought a jetliner had crashed because of the sound....

With my dual subwoofers going I'm not sure I'd know if a minor earthquake hit nearby.

Our car is coming up on 30k km.  That means an oil change and a new fuel filter.   I am also going to get them to swap out the winter wheels.

I'll get it done at the dealer because their rates really aren't that bad.  $100 for the oil change $100 for the fuel filter (which is a bit much, I'll eventually just do it myself. The filter is $40+) and $40 for the change over.

Lady on the phone:  Do you want to go for our service package then?

Me: How much is it?

Lady: Hmmmm, that will come to $405 + taxes

Me: Yeah, that's way too much.

The service package included a whole assortment of inspections that came to an extra $150.
I always wonder if you are going for cost per km , is a diesel really worth it .
you should do a comparison with PI 134 wagon

His car consumes like half the fuel... it might be a wash. But it also murders the innocent with those emissions :stick:

We haven't compared wagons yet. I'm looking forward to doing that.

I looked into it.  Taking conservative estimates it was about $600-800 per year in savings.

The emissions warranty and additional range are what swayed new in the end.

Same here!  It's definitely been on my mind. Ski session is almost done.

The last one I experienced was like that, I was in the backyard and it sounded and felt kind of like as if a large heavy truck had driven by and hit a huge pothole.

http://www.cbc.ca/archives/entry/1982-earthquake-shakes-up-east-coast  I remember this one quite clearly, everything just shook for about 30 seconds, felt a little like being on a moving train, with an out of balance wheel.

Is a 6-pack of "Release the Hounds" IPA a fair trade for 2 used coilpacks for a Subaru flat-6?

I have spare parts and no beer

Found out from a co-worker that I'm taking over his duties.

This is news to me.

This company can be a little on the surreal side.

Also explains why my desk looks like this:

We bartered.  8 cans of a nice dark IPA for 4 coil packs that I assume still work, even though they're kinda rusty.

Enjoying  a beer now  ;D

Enjoyed watching the Red Bellied woodpecker eating at the feeder today. His process was to find the seed he wanted, fly into the tree, peck it open..repeat.

IQ saw a new species of bird at the feeder....a rare one in these parts as I've never seen one. She's not a bird watcher, so she described it to me. Particularly noteworthy was she said it had an orange head and the bird was very tiny..hmmmm....odd. I flipped through my field guide. I picked out a couple birds and she immediately pointed to it...

Golden Crowned Kinglet.

Am jealous..have never seen one.

Yes, we've had a few.

I'm still fighting with the grackles though...

I don't get any grackles in town, tons at the cottage.   It's quite a different mix of birds here vs there and it's only 50km.

My bird feeder can be set to weight...so you can screen out birds like grackles.

However, the gates that drop to block the feed ports are sufficiently spaced so the very smart grackles can delicately still pull out the seeds. I had put so plastic screens with zip ties to prevent this, but the grackles figured out how to peck the screens so the zip ties would fall out.

I now have stainless mesh screen to try. I will not be defeated!

I'm not a truck guy at all, but I love seeing all of the sweet looking trucks down here in Barbados that you don't see back home.  Lots of new Ford Rangers and Hilux's.  Even saw some new Suzuki truck called an Equator that I've never heard before.  It was a pretty sweet looking truck.

Oh you've heard of the Equator. It's the Nissan Frontier in NA. Same truck...but assembled for Suzuki.

Deciding between KTM 390 Duke, slightly used WR250R and rebuilding the fence. Fun car is put on hold.
