Just booked tickets to take the kids to Florida for two weeks,

We've stayed in the area many times before, but this is the first time with multiple kids in tow...any suggestions on activities?
Sea World is always puts on a full days of activities for the kids.

Anyways...

The water park Wet N Wild was fun when we went....I think most kids like water parks.

If you want to do a zoo thing and see animals and also rides, Busch Gardens was OK.

nice pics!

just planning my holidays. i'm going for a week out to visit my in-laws in BC... usually an alright trip, but whirlwind and we don't get to do much "fun" stuff traveling around the islands to see the 3 main people to visit... they live on different islands hours away from each other... so doing that with two little kids can be tiring.

the *real* holiday for me is that i'm going out there for a week... but my kids and wife are going out for three! so i get to book-end my west trip with a week of being a bachelor. i will miss everyone like crazy, but i will get lots of time to unwind and get stuff done. maybe actually get a few rounds of golf in!

Gimme a call when you get back, we can hit the casino!

I hear you, when we go visiting to Montreal every year, seldom do we have anytime to ourselves, too much visiting family and friends.  And the kids tire you out.  People always saying, you will want them to stay at this age forever, obviously they don't have kids, or have short memories!

The people saying that are correct... you'll blink & they're gonna be teenagers   :o  My oldest is 13 now, is almost as tall as me (I'm 6' tall) and has become more of a man now.... I miss the little guy he used to be   :'(

Sure its a bit of both.  Bet you don't miss the stuff you have to do when they are younger.  If you wanted to go to the movies, out for dinner, etc, you could easily do that, with or without your son, you wouldn't have to plan it.

When they are are older it more mental stress compared to the physical stress of little ones

Physical stress is way easier  ;D

Yeah, that stuff does get easier, but we would bring the kids out for dinner starting at a young age & they were taught to behave well in that environment, so that was never an issue for us.  Movies, that wouldn't fly as much, so I get that point. I just miss him being small, LOL!!  My almost 11yr old is still small & likes to give me big hugs still (for now), so that's always nice.  They're both away at my parents down in Caledon for the week, so I guess I'm just missing them overall, LOL!!

Any recommendations for somewhere to rent a car in Kelowna? It doesn't necessarily have to be at the airport.

Just rent anywhere through Costco.

Busch Gardens is definitely on the list, even though the kids are too young for the "extras"....the safari, penguin encounter, etc.  Should be a good full day.

Sea World....don't think I could convince the wife to look past the orca thing.

Both at your parents for a week! My kids haven't even spent the night at my parents.  My Dad has never changed a diaper! They do fairly well at restaurants.  But my wife works shifts, and its important to us to have us time.

I am grateful for everything.  Just looking a bit more forward down the line, when they are like 5 & 7.  We can go on long trips, they will remember them, and be more independent from us.

They've been spending a week down there every summer for pretty much the past 7 years I'd say.  They get to spend time with my parents & with their cousins and then it was also one less week of daycare for us to find, but now with them older, there's no more of that.  Last summer they were their own independent little guys, they'd ride their bikes to the Mall to go to EB games, then they'd ride from my ex's house over to mine to play & have lunch, it was AWESOME!!!  Reminded me of my childhood & how we'd leave the house in the morning on our bikes & show back up for lunch & then hit the road again & get back for dinner.  I was so proud of them!!   ;D  Or should say I AM proud of them

So I took about 6 weeks of bereavement (before and after) in Jan-Feb, then went to Cali for 2 weeks, then took off another week for the bachelor party... Now I've started a new job and the wife has zero vacation time left this calendar year but I get two weeks.

She has a conference in Seattle in October, so I'll use a week for that... Question is what to do with the sercond week.  I don't really want to take it until maybe November or December.

Can you make long weekends of the remaining week?

Seattle's pretty boring after the first couple days, and I can't see the weather being consistently dry by that time of year......just my 2 cents. Also might be a bit chilly for on-the-water excursions on the boat etc...

Seattle will be max 5 days... More likely 4. Considering taking my father a cruise given my mother's loss earlier this year... Also tempted to take him on a (sedate) hiking trip... But he probably won't go for it.

I wouldn't let the terrorists win by changing travel plans.

I visited Paris less than 2 weeks after the 13 Nov attacks. I went to the Place de la republique and paid tribute with flowers. I dined on the terrace and went to cinéma. Didn't think twice.
