I like the fact that you called Mexico a dump yet you frequent Detroit, which is North Americas Mogadishu

Indeed. Going to Mexico is as bad as going to Detroit. Except I'm not stupid enough to waste a week off and spend $2500 for my visit. [emoji1]

I'd say that's QUITE a bit of an exaggeration there buddy! Been to Detroit many, many, many times as I have family there and I've been to Mexico several times as well. Mexico is safer & nicer in the tourist areas (Cancun, Valartta, etc...), Mexico City, quite questionable, similar to Detroit. But since we were talking tourist areas, not apples to apples.

Booked a vacation in the Charlevoix region of Quebec in early August.  Looking forward to actually visiting a region that I've bypassed many times on the way to somewhere else.

Nice little 4 day weekend with the family just outside of Mount Forest, ON.

Should have taken more, but as usual, busy doing other things...

Do you realize that in about 30 (updated as requested) years, we'll have millions of old ladies running around with tattoos?

Mrs. Railton and I did that trip back in Summer 2004. We rented a Mustang Convertible and had a great time. We left Quebec City and stayed at Baie-Saint-Paul and at the Manoir Richelieu and went as far as Tadoussac and stayed in the old hotel there. We went whale watching there for day and we also did some sea kayaking in Saint-Siméon.
We've often talked about doing that trip again.
Have a great time.

Wow, that sounds interesting.  My wife and I have been undecided on where to go for our road trip this summer and that sounds just about right for us.  It will be late August for us though.

Also thinking of the Portland Me/White Mountains area.  :-\

^  Tom, the White Moutains is absolutely a wonderful drive in the S2K. We've done it a couple times now and loved it.  Go south a little to Lake Winnipesaukee as well.  :)

nice pics!

just planning my holidays. i'm going for a week out to visit my in-laws in BC... usually an alright trip, but whirlwind and we don't get to do much "fun" stuff traveling around the islands to see the 3 main people to visit... they live on different islands hours away from each other... so doing that with two little kids can be tiring.

the *real* holiday for me is that i'm going out there for a week... but my kids and wife are going out for three! so i get to book-end my west trip with a week of being a bachelor. i will miss everyone like crazy, but i will get lots of time to unwind and get stuff done. maybe actually get a few rounds of golf in!
i used to be addicted to soap, but i'm clean now

I hear you, when we go visiting to Montreal every year, seldom do we have anytime to ourselves, too much visiting family and friends.  And the kids tire you out.  People always saying, you will want them to stay at this age forever, obviously they don't have kids, or have short memories!

Just booked tickets to take the kids to Florida for two weeks, last week of September and first week of October.  Staying at the 'rent's condo in the Tampa (Bradenton/Palmetto) area, though they won't be there.  Kids will be 26 months and 5 months when the trip rolls around, so we don't plan to do much more than short day trips to the beach and whatnot.

We've stayed in the area many times before, but this is the first time with multiple kids in tow...any suggestions on activities? We do plan to visit Busch Gardens, and our daughter enjoyed Sarasota Jungle Gardens last year, so we will likely head there again.  We usually make at least a couple of trips to Anna Maria Beach.

Sneak away and visit the Tampa Bay Auto Museum. Lots of oddball stuff. ;D
