I don't know why you can't just take the model from Autotrader.com

Because we are an entirely unrelated company.

I still don't get why it defaults to National.  I click advanced search, my postal code has been saved, but every single time I have to change from National (because I am not going to Vancouver to buy a Buick Envision, I don't care how luxurious it is)  to 50km or whatever.  It should have the option to save the setting, or remember them.

It should retain your postcode. I'll send this along to the team to let them know it's not working.

I did say my postal code has been saved.  I said it keeps defaulting to National which is dumb.

I understand your different companies.  But it's not unusual, to take ideas from competitors.

Another thing that absolutely sucks about Autotrader's search functionality is the even though you choose used vehicles only, you can only search for current models only.  Unless of course you go into Advanced Search and start from scratch and clicking your region, model, make, etc.  WTF?  Why wouldn't they list ALL of the brand's models right from the get go?   ::)

Seriously....this AutoTrader.ca is a piece of garbage.  I mean...how hard is it to have SIMPLE search functions that WORK?  Seems like very other website in the world can make it work...but not AutoTrader.ca

So , so frustrating.......everyone involved with this should be fired as they are completely incompetent.  Issues have been going on with this since the new(ish) release.

Example 1)   I already have the field set to National (as you can see).  I have already chosen the make (in this case Lexus).  I click on MODEL...and what pops up?  LOCATION...you know, the location I had previously selected?  FFS...Worse, you can't even select the "Apply" button.  It's light green and the cursor is a round icon with a strike through it...can't click.  So you have to "X" to get out.  Bear in mind...this is a related issue to what Jacob said he'd send along to the team on February 23.  Jacob...please tell the guys to slow down...don't work so fast!!   ::)

Example 2) After a couple of tries, I can FINALLY select my model without the stupid LOCATION box popping up.  But here's what I get for model.  Now you can see some Lexus in the background screen...so it does in fact know I'm looking at Lexus.  But the models?  Interesting bit of incompetence on this one!!   ::)

Garbage, Garbage, Garbage.

I like the design...it’s just quite rough - QA failed miserably here.

The design is very similar to cars.com but like I said, the execution shhhhh...they must have hired the cheap consultants LOL

I have several beefs with the search filters. If I choose 1,000 kms I don't get Ontario but my next choice isn't 1500kms but rather "national" and that gets be cars 5000kms away in BC. Why not have the ability to enter any distance you want? Better yet have a drop down menu where you can choose multiple geographic areas to include in the search.

You should also be able to include multiple makes and models in the same search.

And I had other recommendations for improvements.  But since they can't get the basics working.  Have to resort to Kijiji as option #1

At the very least it shouldn't force you to use a postal code. I liked that previously I could just put "Toronto" with a search radius if I wanted to browse cars in the GTA. Now I have to find a postal code to do that.

This.

I mean I can't imagine they take this with such a relaxed approach. I'd have to imagine that Trader is a major driver of traffic to the non-classified section of the site...like people pop in to look at a car for sale, then maybe do research or read an article etc

It's so bewildering they'd release this half baked.

They must be using the Tesla business model.  :)

AUTOTRADER = BROKEN!

Guess I should stop looking at used cars, and just look at build & price from the manufacturer.....

Yep, it's rather painful to use.  Quite surprised that given all of the feedback in this thread that nothing has been done.  Like rrocket mentioned, it's dogshit.   ::)

Another annoyance is that I use Google to login to AutoTrader. On my phone it keeps logging me out and it's a pain to log back in because I have two factor authentication enabled.

The only way it could be worse than usual is if it didn't work at all.

But that might be a good thing.
