Awesome. We skied Cascades and by noon it was cloudy and by 2 the rain came in.

It was great, perfect weather till about 2:30ish, clouds rolled in & light went flat! We packed it in ~3:30ish, so not too bad considering we were on the gondola at 9am  ;D  Heading back there this coming weekend, just the GF & I though, so a different kinda fun  :P

How's the coverage?  I have an uncle coming into town over Easter that has demanded we go skiing.  If the local hills are still open (lookin' at you Fortune) we'll stay close but Tremblant might be the only option.

They had 93 runs open! Coverage was good apart from the usual places where it faces the sun & they don't make a lot of snow. I wasn't worried about my bases at any point. We skied the trees off the Edge & there was plenty. I'd say they'll be in decent shape at Easter, but it really depends on the rain & temps over the next couple of weeks. Fortune should be open on Skyline for Easter still... that's their goal for this season & last week I swear they had about 3' of snow still on Heg!

The kid and I went to Sunshine so she could check out the places she hadn't been - getting to know the hill better.  She also brought her camera and wanted to experiment with settings and so on - very challenging in the poor-vis flat light we had for the day.  We warmed up on some blue runs so I' not exactly tearing up the hill here, but still managed to capture the fun that skiing can be even on "non-gnarly" terrain...  (just for fun I brought the big G3 Manhattans - beasts to get on edge)

The end of the Masters ski racing last week, was a good time:

All head to head racing the last day:

Was a great way to force myself to get some skiing in every week, and to work on technique. Still so much to learn.

One thing is to get more armour! Forearm was covered in bruises after that day.

For anyone on the east coast who isn't aware of the awesome backcountry skiing in the Chic Choc mountains on the Gaspe peninsula.
I used to work out there in my 20s. Awesome terrain and snow.

Yes and they received phenomenal quantities of snow this season. The Chic Shack organize Cat skiing outings.

I love skiing trees - especially nice glades.  Not that long ago I despised tree skiing and then got a few simple but great tips and now it's my favourite backcountry skiing.  The snow is usually consistent and awesome - little or no wind effect and it's rare to have any sort of crust in the trees.

Tomorrow is looking like it's gonna be a great spring day.

And given next week's forecast likely my last day of the season.

Pretty ridiculous day on the slopes today: 5 cm of fresh overnight, amazing snowpack still, perfect temperature, bit of sun, and nobody around!

Was on the Fire Arrow 80s today and they were great, but I'm still thinking I'd like a 90mm-ish ski for days like today. Will look for deals next fall, but am thinking Enforcer 93, Brahma, or that new Navigator 90 (Yeah, I have a thing for Nordica/Blizzard.)

I wonder if they will open back up for Canada Day Long Weekend. They pulled that off in 89 or 90 (don't know exact year getting old).

Looks good.

I don't know about Canada Day, but it sure is awesome right now. I think I had some of my best turns ever on the Shoulder today: just perfect, bottomless, creamy mashed-potato, hero snow top to bottom.

If you're thinking about going for one last day, you should do it!

I think I'm out for the season. I only have a midweek pass (Mon-Thurs) and don't think it's good on the holiday Monday. Still, 43 days this winter, so I'm happy.

But still sad the season's over. It was a good one. And two last pics just because it was so pretty today.
