32 grand is a ridiculous price for a 122-hp microcar, 44 grand for the ALL4 is totally insane. :o :o. Those prices might be easier to swallow if this insect was at least good-looking, but sadly.... :'( ::)

If you have the money, price is not a problem

^^ Of course price isn't a problem if you have the money. I'm just amazed that anyone would spend that much on such an ugly little bug when there soooo many better choices out there. A Countryman ALL4 costs more than an Audi A4 Avant for Pete's sake... ???

You're trying to understand this based on rational thought. Buying a Mini is a purely emotional exercise. ;D

:iagree: The MINI has never been the best value-for-money contender. There are better cars available for less money, but the MINI offers some special emotional attachment. It's like buying an expensive watch: a cheaper one will do the same job, but some people are just drawn to the Rolex (or whatever).

Exactly Demo. Those of us old farts who were brick pilots in our youth will always feel an attachment to a mini.

Good timing on the article since I saw Mini Cooper Countryman on the road last week and have to say :

It was like looking at a famous "stars" brother, they look similar but you have a look engraved in your mind of that look and the other look just looks freaky. In this case freaky was the best way I could describe this iteration on the car. It's like someone jacked the Mini and extended it. I thought the Mini is all about handling "why would anyone raise it's center of gravity" the proportions were all wrong. I could accept it stretched but stretched and raised just threw it all out of whack.
The Clubman was as far as this car could go. The Countryman clearly has gone to far.

To Mini I say "Best of luck with this car....you'll need it, and  once I heard the price I say: Really... at that price point...luck alone won't cut it.

These will make much more sense as leased vehicles.   We were pricing out leases last night and you can get into a base model Countryman with a few options for the same price as bare bones Kia Sportage.  Granted the Countryman is smaller (too small for us) but it has a LOT more cache than the Sportage and is probably a better driving vehicle.
