It looks awesome. They really did a great job on the styling in and especially out. People buy G wagons so I don’t see what Lexus won’t have plenty of customers for this.

It's not BMW ugly, but there is too much going on in the front end. Looks like they are trying to copy Land Rover, which isn't a bad thing in terms of aesthetics. Overall it's a handsome vehicle.

Looks pretty good to my eyes at the surface.  I like the slab sided boxy shape and the toned down front end styling looks much better.  Also like that they make a third row an option.  Biggest improvement to me is that they got rid of that swinging rear door as that was the one deal breaker for me on the last one.  Too bad they got rid of the V8 but no surprise there.  Cabin looks pretty good.  Overall looks much better than the new LX.

I agree with all this, it's a great looking rig.  Sure it might be taking some styling cues from Land Rover, or whoever, but is that a bad thing?  Shame about the V8, but at least it's not some turbo 4 with hybrid tech.  I'd take this over the LX, and not just because the LX is much bigger than our needs.

Sounds like it's barely smaller than the LX and they have the same wheelbase.

Looks pretty good though I'd like to see it in some other colours.

Not a bad thing in my books, if the result is a good looking vehicle.  ;D

Though I note, parenthetically, that it seems to DEFINITELY be a bad thing when other manufacturers do it.

I don't mind it. Not something I'd shop for, but I applaud them for making it.

I'm wondering what the price will end up being.  The LX and the GX currently have around a $35K price spread between models, surely that will shrink some, but how much?  I just asked my wife what her thoughts on the styling was, seeing as a lot of our wives are fans of the G Wagon and Land Rover Defender.  As expected, she is a pretty big fan of it and definitely prefers it to the LX.

Does anyone else find it a little funny that a lot of woman really love the styling of manly off road looking vehicles?

I think it looks awesome, unlike most modern Lexuses. Too bad it lost its V8. The TTV6 was first used in the LS500 I believe. Has it proven itself to be as durable as the ol V8s?

Ditto.  Would rock one of these for sure, but then again, I'm not rich.

Will the next 4Runner be similar to this?

Buy it anyways - will save you $ in the long run as you wouldn't have to replace it for decades.

Total cost of ownership is likely very attractive, but the initial outlay of cash is still a hurdle, and nothing stays on the road for 20 years out here (salt).

looks awesome.  Glad they when with square styling, it does look like they might try to attract G wagon fans but  why TF only 17mpg..lol, although a hybrid model will be out.  8000lbs is an improvement.

People keep hammering the fuel economy. It is a HEAVY BOF machine with AWD/4WD. The mileage is right on point but it should be a v8 but I digress,  It's like a roided up LR4 that was produced 13 years ago. I imagine the Limited version will be more restrained in appearance and perhaps right in my wheelhouse. I need to replace the LR4 when it finally needs to be out to pasture or made into a trail machine.

Too off road for 95% of potential US and Canadian buyers.  Wimpy motor for the weight.  Cost  ???  Lack of auto 4wd similar to the Tundra is a massive fail.

Generally, Toyota is scr*wing the DOG of late.

It's got a torsen center differential. Would that not equate to full time AWD??? With the added benefit of a locking rear diff for the off road oriented trim.
