2023 Honda Pilot unveiled
« on: November 07, 2022, 12:20:07 pm »
Looks a LOT better than the outgoing model.  It's also grown a bit.  Assuming that overall this translates to an improved offering, should overtake the Telluride and be back at the top of the list for those shopping for a 3-row CUV.

Do I see lots of VW Atlas in there?  Curious about the width. I already find my old Ridgeline wide. This has to be the width of a GMC Yukon. Looks good although I bet that high zoot model is $$$$

can you expand on that? I thought Honda's torque vectoring AWD was really good? (SH AWD)

Always thought it was a good system. Believe it is supposed to help dry road handling too?

Be interested how the new 3.5 engine and 10 speed work out

The 2023 Pilot is a 2022 Acura MDX sans a different 3.5 motor.

Both AWD systems are identical except for the programming.   The best AWD in the Industry.

I don't know what AWD I've got in the RL, but its been absolutely fantastic during the winter. Pretty good in the summer too, gravel, mud, sand, it does it all aside from the questionable tires.

99.9% sure.  Hence that Lightening doesn't exist.  The guy works at a Ford Store in or around the PEG.  Not a sales guy.  I picked up one of his threads in a Mustang board a few years back.

RL is same as the 2022 Pilot.  Same AWD programming.

The guy from DrivingSportsTV (youtube) did a comparison on how Honda deploys the same system on each of those vehicles.  This guy is worth watching.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXSK-B_Hi_Y

2023/24 RL moves to the 2022 MDX platform as well.

Have you towed with yours?   What I don't like with the ridgeline, and probably this one,  is the claim they are rated for 5,000lbs.  There's lots of forums with owners blowing up transmissions after testing the limit.   I know it's not a toy hauler but if you rate something to tow, make sure it actually can.  Love the ridgeline and pilot but glass transmission IMO.  I believe the updated 9spd is better but not sure.

Pretty sure the rectangular exhaust trim rings are fake.   Frequently, automakers always push the design a bit to far with tacky plastic chrome bits.  :P

I've only towed about 2-2500lbs with it, barely felt the uhaul trailer, no issues. I heard some issues with the older models, but the newer 9spd seems to be an improvement. If I was to tow, I would definitely buy a scan gauge to keep an eye on the tranny temp, but that goes for any vehicle.

Looks pretty sharp.
Wokeism is nothing more than the recognition and opposition of bigotry in all its forms.  Bigots are predictably triggered.

I know first gen with Honda 5 speed is fine towing up to the 5000lb limit.
Second gen 6speeds if related to the RDX ones I would be wary of?
Second gen 9 speed? No idea how it holds up to towing.
Second gen 10 speed related to the 9?

Either way I wouldn't tow near the limit with the Ridgeline regardless. Maybe 2000-3000 lbs but no more. Towing is still not it's forte.  ;D

Thats where my heads at too, a couple of quads on a trailer, sure, tiny, light camping trailer, sure, I wouldn't go past 3000 on a regular basis, still based on a wrong wheel drive platform fercrissakes!!
