Thoughts on a 2018 RDX Tech? Tasked with buying the MIL one..
« on: August 03, 2021, 06:14:16 pm »
I have been placed in the unfortunate situation of finding my MIL a vehicle to replace her 2008 RDX. To keep it simple I have settled on the next gen RDX and specifically 2017-18. The new ones are nice but have a top of stuff she will never use. The interior of the 2018 is an evolution of her 2008 and she will be comfortable with it.

Anyhow I found a 2018 RDX tech (middle level) with beige interior (her preference) with 53k on it. They want $33500 with tax out the door. I think I can whittle them down a bit but any ideas on fair value? I really don't want to invest too much life energy into this lol. I like the V6/6 speed combo. Worlds better than the old stiff sprung 2008.,

Yeah just go to AutoTrader and use the "what is my vehicle worth" calculator and it will give you the range.  Depending on what that says adjust your offer accordingly.

Parents have a 2014 RDX (pre-facelift) with 114 kms. I find it pretty "clunky" for a premium CUV.

So far they had the rear shocks replaced, backup cam replaced, AC condenser.

I believe the facelifted 2016+ have improved infotainment and suspension, and standard driving assistance safety stuff.

Isn't it a ZF 9 speed?

Beats me. The old Land Rover has a 6 speed that is a ZF. I am outdated lol. Went back to let the wife have a look at the model and another couple wastest driving it so likely not much negotiation on it lol.

I've driven these as loaners. They're awesome CUVs, the NA V6/6A combo is bulletproof, smooth and sprightly. No SHAWD, but they still handle nicely for a CUV.
