I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately myself. I'm in the somewhat unusual situation where my wife & I work in the same place, so it's rare that we
need two cars - this presents a challenge and an opportunity:
Challenge: Find a daily driver that we could both live with. We have tried this before - she wants nothing more than a simple a-b appliance... in other words, she'd be happy-happy in a Corolla, where i'd rather hang myself, so up 'til now we have both bought and paid for our own cars. But.. we recently test drove an XV Crosstrek that she really liked and I liked enough I could live with it... so, this could open up the...
Opportunity: A toy for me. This could be anything from an MX5, S2000, Mustang Convertible, or CPO IS-F (note no FGC's...
). Ideally, would want something that could be in a pinch driven in winter...
Having said all that... don't want to tie up a bunch of $$ in car(s) for the next while - - we both want to travel extensively in the next ~5 years, so will be directing more disposable cash this way...
