In the VW Passat Wagon TDI I get about 6.9-7.2 l/100km in mostly city driving.  Did a round trip to Toronto last weekend from Ottawa and achieved 5.4 l/100km at an average speed of 117 kph.  This car rocks on the highway.

In the Honda Odyssey (with VCM), ugh, the wife is averaging 14l/100km in the city and can get about 9.8-10l/100km on mostly highway.

Just drove from Mont Ste Anne to Toronto. Mazda 6 wagon GS V6 6sp auto avg just under 10 litres/100 with cruise set at @ 120.
I was expecting better mileage.

Is your 6 broken in?  How many kms on it?

It's got 12,000 kms on it now. I assume that's considered enough to be broken in.

That should be broken in by now. I find your numbers kind of high but maybe it was a one off tank(s) or bad winds both way? When I drove to Utah/Arizona I averaged 9.3 L/100 with a roof box and hwy speeds of 130-160kph all the time.

Just filled the Rab again today....

And SUPRISE SURPRISE

Averaged 8.9L/100km with a bit of city driving (I'd say 80% highway 20% city).

That's quite of a jump from 10L/100km with 90% highway.

She's still under 4000km, but at least there's something to smile about today.  :)

Good news, mine has stable 10.8L/100km 30highway/70city, it is only 1700km, hope good thing happened too. My neighbour choose 2008 camry2.4 since the toyota has 9.5city rating, he never get anything lower 15L/100Km (90city/10highway), the dealer told him it is nomal, anybody here have the same experience or this is just special case. (He want sue Toyoya for lying).

Especially surprising since it has the 6sp auto

The 6-auto shouldn't make a difference, its the final drive ratio that should. But I think the that 6-auto runs about 200 rpm lower than the 5-auto did. Probably not enough to make a big difference.

2003 corolla 5spd.

Gentle cruise to work -  30km each way, mostly along highway 5 (70-90km/hr),  a few long red lights and a some traffic slowdowns

~550-600km's per 38-40L  = 6.5-7.3L/100km

80km/hr cruising is definitely a sweetspot for comsumption.... highway driving at 120km/hr sucks back waaay more fuel, probably about 450-500km a tank = 8-9L/100km

Ok, so I've got a nice one here.

Polo 1.6L Flex Fuel Engine.

Using only gasoline it averages: 12L/100km~11L/100km (100% city driving with some bad traffic on the way back home, 6 km two way commute and some short trips along the day). Only tested it once on the highway, car fully loaded with 5 people and trunk full of stuff, 7.5L/100km.

Now the best part:

Using only ethanol: 18L/100km~16L/100km (same commute as with gasoline), never tested with ethanol on the road tho, too low autonomy.

Of course I've reached heaven doing 9L/100km with 100% gasoline, 100% city driving during one full tank right after an oil and filters change. But I've touched hell as well, doing 13L/100km with 100% gasoline and on 100% city driving. This car is really weird, each tank is a surprise.

Ps. The company pays the gas so any mileage is ok to me, heeheheheeheh.

??? No offense intended, but do you have a lead foot? :P

Actually no, I'm quite "civilized" heehehehehh.

What's the cost for gasoline and ethanol in Brazil??

In my town, gasoline is R$2.4/L, ethanol is R$1.4/L. Quite expensive.

Cars with Flex Fuel engine use to spend 30% more fuel when using ethanol then when they use gasoline.

^^^^Yea..but here ethanol is the same price as regular gasoline, so there was no point to buying it when it was 30% less efficient.  At least in Brazil the cheaper price makes it an option to use...

I believe in Brazil, they use sugarcane to produce their ethanol which is considerably more efficient (both in farm acreage and in cost / acre?) than corn.

^^Yep..you are correct, sir...

The governments refuse to import the ethanol from Brazil..which would save us a bunch of $$.......

Ethanol is worth in some places here, usually most flex fuel cars run on ethanol only. When using only ethanol the car gets better performance, a little bit more of both torque and power.

Another data point.

7.3 L / 100km
104km/h average speed
Ottawa to Sudbury, not the whole trip but something like 450km.

Lots of acceleration bursts (5k-7k RPM) for passing on two lane highways, some traffic lights, lots of speed variance, etc. If it was flat 104km/h I bet it would be well under 7 L / 100km.

Sometimes wish I had bought one. Damn them for not offering a stick!

The '06 Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4X4 Hemi 5AT is averaging between 16.5 - 18L/100K 80% suburban city (free flowing traffic). In the dead of winter was more like 18.5 - 19L. My commute is about 7 minutes, so that has to be taken into account. On the highway can get down to 11-12L between 100-105km/h. Partner had 2 Dakotas with smaller engines prior to this, and believes both were worse.

Lat 3 fills for the Pathfinder has resulted in an average of 26.4 MPG.  This is not exceeding 100 KPH and using cruise as much as possible.  Drive was from Mill Bay to Campbell River to Woss then back to Campbell River.  Very little city type driving but some bush driving (10%) in the Woss area.

Its not the "coming out with one" AirB   it is the selling the one they already make in Canada is the problem.

IMO the management at VW seem to be getting worse every year.

I know, that why I said I wish they would
They would have spend a lot of cash to get the TDI ready for NA, you would think they flood market the engine

I get about 7.5 - 8.0 L/100 km on my Mini S, 90% hwy. But the bad part about it, it needs premium. That's $65 a fill up.  :-\
