I saw a woman check mirrors, signal, and then shoulder check yesterday while turning into the YIG.

(Bob - YIG is a grocery chain, called Your Independant Grocer.  Everyone calls it the YIG in the northern part of Ontario.)

Cheers Brig (my resident translator). I was wondering, thought it was some sort of Yeti or something...

Bob, that translation wasn't just for you.  For those of us that haven't lived in the back woods or the tundra, we had no idea what the heck that was either.

Gallardo sightings around here are rarer than Yeti sightings.

"Back woods"? Hey, Jeff, we call it the YIG here in Kanata, too, right at the centre of world culture, sophistication and civility.

2 people in the Ajax-Whitby area have new Lambos - yes, in plain 'ole Durham region (east Toronto). An orange and a yellow one. I caught up with the one on the 401 had fun passing him in the slow lane (he was caught behind traffic) and ticking over into the fast lane in front of him... racing a car like that, who am I kidding, right? He drove it well, and when I was able to get back into the centre lane he whisked by me. Car has tint but appears as though it's a guy aged from 26-32 driving it.
Lucky him.

Also, have seen a Maybach in Whitby a few times. Just a simple grey one. Always takes a second for me to register what the frompy-long thing is, as it poses as a bloated S-Class pretty well. But dang, those rear tail lamps are bright!

Haven't seen a maybach yet, seen a couple of the new Rolls Royces though, and they are BIG!

Love the LED tail lamps on them.

-Peaking my interest-

What colour was the Phaeton? Piano black like most of them, or something more exciting?

A few days ago I saw a white Citroen Berlingo.  Gotta love the diplomatic corps here in Ottawa for bringing over a few oddities.  A couple of years ago there was a woman who used to drive past my office building in a mid 80s Nissan Cedric.  The motorcade with Russian President Putin's ZIL 41041 was pretty nifty back in the fall of 2000...

There's a Phaeton I see fairly regularly around work.  Looks like it must be Jose Canseco's Passat. <yawn> It looks good in silver, though.  It's most remarkable feature?...the dinner-plate-sized VW logo.  I think they're using recycled Polo turntables.

Sir it was a dark navy blueish colour. Looked like black from far away but once I got closer I realized it was blue.

And yeah I agree with ya DSW, that logo IS pretty noticable. Almost as noticable as those HUGE blue ovals on the new F-150's tailgate.

P.S There was a license plate on an echo that was "DSW 3**"... made me think that maybe you came back to halifax DSW!

Sparky... are ya north of Toronto?  Then yer back-woods or tundra.  :-)  (I don't know why people always say we Toronto folk feel we're at the centre of the universe).

It's weird, in my area, 3-series and A4s are like Civics or Cavaliers in most places, but I rarely see exotics.  Lambos and Ferraris are usually downtown -- not in Oakville (or if they are, they're understandably hidden from me!).  It's exciting to see anything sporty or unusual this time of year though -- most of the nice cars are wrapped up tight in hibernation.

I don't think I've seen a Phaeton, new Roller or Maybach on the roads yet!   Though I've seen 3 Ferraris within a 20 minute drive in the west end last fall.
