i quite like the touareg.   it will be 3.6 VR6.  no other engine is in consideration.  V10 diesel, no facking way.  i don't have a magic wallet that spits out $1 grand a day.
never driven either of them, but the interior on the touareg is great.

never thought about XC90.

nobody's saying anything about the lincoln?    escape with bit more power and bit more noise control materials?  i actually don't mind the interior in these.  not flashy, but not sh1tty like ATS inteior, i mean look at that facking instrument cluster.....

Range Rover, now that is a ....car i cannot afford.

i just can't reasonably justify to myself something as big as touareg though, it's just two of us, no baby on the horizon, i live in a hill, it will burn tons of gas,...... but i kinda want one.

mkc, i always kinda liked how it looks and knowing it's escape based, plenty of parts and services.

There are a few MKCs around the neighbourhood. They look ok. Basically an Escape with a nicer interior.

CR says the trouble spots are squeaks, rattles and the infotainment system. Their infotainment rating doesn't do a good job of differentiating between user complaints and system failures though, so take that for what you will. Check the vehicle repair history. If it hasn't been in for work on the infotainment system system, it's likely fine.

Sir O beat me to it.  ;D The MKC is likely a good used buy.  I like the Toerag, just don't think i would buy one.

Heres my 450+ hp  argument  ;D

you know, i dream about that car sometimes.  i wish i could afford the gas it would burn.  but not enough used inventory, none in my budget.

you still have subs to CR?  what's it say about touareg?  ;D

Ron, there's one RX 450H showing on Autotrader in my budget and that thing's got 100+ k km on it.  NO other lexus SUVs.   danged strong resale on these lexus' if they are only few years old.

Driving thrills makes my wallet lighter.. and therefore makes me faster because i'm shedding weight... :D

There’s no much to be said...the power train is the same as the Escape (2.0T) or Mustang (2.3T).

Interior is very nice, on pair with the newer Escapes.

Myford Touch 2 isn’t that bad at all - it was disliked by a few in the media but the hate between millions of owners isn’t crazy high since they added buttons for the controls.

In all seriousness ...
In all seriousness,

The MKC is likely a great used buy, assuming they depreciate like the rock they should.

never thought about XC90.
many of them were sold with the 3.2L, which is not very "quick" and drinks fuel like a pick up truck...if you can find a T6 model, those are the ones to get, but they are more money...usually when i search for these, 95% of the models available are the 3.2L dogs.

no no no this info is wrong if you are considering XC90s.

The very first XC90 were either 2.5 turbo inline 5 2.5T or the T6 (inline 6 turbo). Due to the sideways orientation of the I6 only a GM 4 speed would fit. These transmissions were horrible. Avoid first get T6 at all costs!

Volvo then added the Yamaha 4.4L V8. These were fine as long as the dry camshaft bearing was addressed.

Later models had the 2.5T (best) or the doggy 3.2L as Volvo put the long in tooth XC90 out to pasture in the final years. For my money I would hunt out a creampuff 2007 V8 R design.

Yup. T6 XC70 is the model to get. The 3.2 was ok but the T6 had serious power. In fact this is one of my short listed vehicles. A used XC70 T6 (350ish HP) with Polestar tune and upgraded front brakes. A perfect Q ship.

Yea....I think it's .3 to sixty and .5 in the 1/4 for the old Cayenne?

Wonder if the new one will close the gap...or if they care?

EDIT The new Cayenne Turbo hits 60 in 3.7 seconds vs. The Jeep's 3.5 seconds.

I really liked the Touareg. (came close to pulling the trigger on one in 2011 but availability was an issue and the local dealer was a dick).

The XC90 with the 3.2 was a dog. Five minutes into the test drive the lack of power/performance had ruled it out for me
Old Jag convertible...one itch I won't have to scratch again.
