The LX470 had everything you needed and nothing you don't. If I was serious it would be a 2007 out of the SW states. Rust or lack thereof is the #1 priority.

Lexus build and price up:

https://www.lexus.ca/lexus/en/build-price/gx

Interesting how they've split each middle trim upgrade level into either urban or offroad versions. Clever

Yeah my wife would love to have any of those three, and honestly so would I.

I totally get the love for the LR4. People seem to love these things and keep them till they're literally on death's doorstep... so much subtle loyalty you never hear about.

Another home run for Toyota. The Land cruiser version which is all hybrid will likely get 9-10 liters/100 km combined, having your cake and eating it too!! 2 year waiting list!!

Absolutely. Eager early adopters will run to lexus screaming "take my money" In a year or two the hybrid will debut and a second wave of demand will appear.

The more I look at this the more I like the current generation. Swap the nose for an aftermarket rail runner thing and embrace the V8. I don't care for screens so perhaps I should explore when screen first infected the GX.

Is it just the V8 that makes you prefer the old one? Or... ?

The V8 and the analog nature. Would have no problem getting a 5 year old one as they didn't really change.  It's funny I am now looking at current generation defenders again. A 110 V8 would be awesome.

Don't sleep too long. ICE is probably history by 2030 at JLR.

The top-trim 6 cyl. "shorty" I drove was pretty neat ... except for the inop stereo. It worked for 2 minutes, and those were two wonderful minutes.

Apparently the V8 adds 700 pounds to the Defender.  :o

Correct.  The V6 is the sweet spot.  Far better value, more efficient, and with its mild hybrid, it's actually punchier and more responsive. I like the Defender, and I've always really liked that V8 in other JLR models, but the V8 Defender was disappointing. Plus, even though the one I drove was practically new, the tailpipes were already rusting.  Ahh, good ol' Land Rover.

Straight six, not V6  ;) - but I agree, I liked that engine in the Defender.

Of course... I've made that mis-speak a few times with TheHire too.
