That is an utter nightmare, thats a bloody walmart parking lot.
Lighten up Francis.....

A friend of mine was looking at leftover '23 Lightnings that have big discounts. Only issue is they only have standard range ones left. He figures it could still work for him as they could take their 3-series on road trips. His camp is 65 km from his house so a round trip there is his primary concern which the standard range model could easily handle, even when towing a utility trailer.

I don't see where to plug in

You missed that the Ford Lightning has 131 kWh battery pack, enough to run a camp trailer for a week.
Here is my truck powering a 30A 240V load for an afternoon,
120V 15A loads are trivial, the truck has a dozen power outlets of all kinds.

We stayed at quinte's isle campark with a Lightning and 27 foot trailer with air conditioning, full kitchen and king bed.
It's pretty nice travel if you like that sort of thing, you know, a few meters from the beach in the middle of a hot summer weekend.

Well you can tour in a nice 2 seater GT automobile

North Beach Ontario.
400 km round trip without charging on extended range battery Lightning, no need to get gas the day before, during or after.
Ford Lightning has massive storage, easy to pack for a week long trip to beautiful destinations.
We made lunch using the induction cooktop powered by the Pro Power onboard system.
I would never road trip in a car again after experiencing a truck on a trip like the one below.

Must agree that a truck is a fantastic road trip vehicle. Looking to take a trip down to Arizona and the Silverado is the first choice by far.

That is an utter nightmare, thats a bloody walmart parking lot.

From my experience with the RV groups, Americans love camping like that. They love their big 5th wheelers and manicured lawns. It's not really camping, it's just a holiday where you pull your own $75,000 home with a $75,000 truck using 3x more fuel than you have to when they can just rent a hotel or AirBNB. And yes that also applies to a $10,000 home on a $10,000 truck but at least it's to nature.

I remember seeing a few camp sites like that in Osoyoos, just a parking lot for campers. I don't get it, why you wouldn't at that point take your nice car for a long trip and stay at hotels/air BnBs is beyond me. To me camping is getting away from the unwashed masses, if I bought a trailer for that it would be one I can drag into crown land, not park is a south Edmonton common "campground" and tell people how I "roughed" it for a week lol

I suspect that part of the appeal is the community and social aspect of it.

Yup!! We have our lake lot for socializing and being around people, when I'm camping, I don't want to deal with anyone.

Oh my old boss liked to go camping in the city. They live out on the farm so to them, the city is the cool place to escape to.

I would say forum users tend to be introverts lol.

You bet. I would rather have my eyes gouged out than hang around socializing at a campground. Fat loud people wearing crocs drinking cheap booze out of plastic cups... ;D

This is the kind of park I enjoy staying at with a big rig.
Sleeping Giant.
Not boozers, lots of people enjoying one of the great parks in Ontario.
This picture is the same view I woke up with for 5 days...amazing.  Site 110E (E for electrical power).

You sound like you’d be a blast 😂
Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.

May sound strange but I actually am lol. My "camping" group is a collection of old enduro/trials riders and the mission is lots of riding by day and quality of food/booze at night but due to the old men and high activity it is usually lights out at 10pm lol.

What I have noticed is that anyone 50+ still seriously riding single track enduro is not only stupid but all these guys are seriously successful at life. Almost all to a T are wealthy, retired (except for a few Board positions) and are in shape. A surprising number are Quebecois who really put emphasis on wringing the good things out of life. (Riding, eating and fine booze lol). The only drawback is some have a love of strange Quebec pop music.  ;D The rest of the group is rounded out of skinny, strong,  bald englishmen. Quite the diverse group.
