It's either a subwoofer that is part of the Fender stereo, or the accessory 560$ sub seen on VW.ca, or maybe TPMS to the spare.

I'll go with option #1 (if you zoom in on the photo, you can see the Fender logo above the connector. )

Yes... 'zat vus da joke.  TripleBob was calling me out because when diesel WAS more expensive (quite a bit more), I teased him for his Common-Folks Wagon.
