autoTRADER.ca Server Updated
« on: January 24, 2020, 03:35:19 am »
Hello!
It's been a while since the last time I checked in – we've suffered a few setbacks in getting our server software updated. But I'm happy to report that we're back to full speed. What this means is that pages should load much faster and you shouldn't be seeing any more 502/503 errors or those yellow application errors.

In addition, you should see a greater volume of articles being published going forward – all that time we spent troubleshooting server issues we can now spend on getting articles published!

Do let us know if you run into any problems with the site. We'll be addressing some of the outstanding display issues (the photo galleries, etc.) over the next few weeks.

Thank you very much!
Andy

Good. Now resources can be focused on "redesigning" this  http://wwwb.autotrader.ca/expert/   back to the way it was.

Yes. We are very efficient. Absolutely. Pay no mind to the timestamps on the actual articles.

Haha, as strange as it sounds, the current form of the website is fairly close to the original vision we had for our redesign... from 2016. That's not saying there aren't significant improvements to be made (for example, making the photo galleries tall enough for people to actually see the whole vehicle) – today's launch is just the first step.

We have another major platform change coming up that won't immediately affect your site experience, but does open the door to further improvements to site performance and appearance. In the interim, we're hoping to push out some tweaks that address the biggest concerns we have with the site right now.

Is anyone else having problems with the site?? Most pages I view in the forums have no styling, so formatting is all screwed up and the page is white with black text.
Railton said the same thing today.....looks fine on Tapatalk...but on a PC or browser it's all jacked up
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

hmmm looking at it, but nothing has changed and it looks fine on my end on everything.  Suspect it's a path getting blocked someplace for the stylesheet.

Yes, something changed with the site formatting as of this morning. Does not seem to matter which browser you use. Tap a talk and iPad versions are fine, it’s just when you are in the main web site on your laptop or computer.

Why do they keep dumping a large bunch of articles all at the same time? I'm sure they didn't write all those overnight.  Another dumping today.

Sorry for the dumps! You shouldn't be seeing anymore unseemly clumps of topics going forward.

Was going well for a while. At least you tried and it wasn't 2 pages worth this time.

Haha, you caught me. There was a script that I was using and it broke last week without an error message. I'm going to update the forum manually from now on – maintaining the script takes the same amount of time...

All is good. Just pulling your chain. Keep up the manual work.
