Thanks for the kind words, everyone. We've had a few rough moments (night 2 was hell), but even so we feel we're adjusting well and it already seems more than worth it. Can only imagine how much better it will all feel when she starts interacting a little bit more. We were forewarned that the first 2-3 months can be tough because they basically use you as a slave for food/changing/attention without giving any back. Not to worry, she's so damn cute we don't seem to mind
A belatedly congrats to you! You will get through the first couple of months....once you learn to just go along with the kid's sleep/eat pattern.
I actually look back fondly at my "awake" time with baby #1 during the night once she was a few months old. I would go to bed early, and then get up in the night for the baby's 2 hour awake time around midnight. Feed her, play on the floor for a while, then she would cuddle in and I could read a book. Put her back in her crib and head back to bed myself. There are worse routines :-)
