24 hours?! That's the longest labour I have ever heard.
Congrats to your family Patrick. Your life will never be the same.

Happy to finally have this little girl in my arms - her name is Harriet. Getting her here was a bit of a nightmare for mom (24+ hours of labour, 4 hours of pushing, only to end up needing a c-section), but now that she's arrived it makes it all seem worthwhile (not to worry, my wife agrees!). She's definitely a big, healthy baby - 9 lb 6 oz!

The greatest miracle of all.  Congratulations!

I look at the night sky frequently...as I hang out after work outside, relaxing. Every now and then, I see something moving though the sky...satellite, space station...something.

So I found an app called Heavens Above that shows you when and where these man made objects will wiz by. Sure enough..it works! Watched several fly by last night...pretty much when an where the app said they'd be visible. It was neat!

So if you like that sort of thing give the app a try.

I love that sort of thing and need to get out of downtown Winnipeg more often.

Track days on the bike in general.

I've gotten very good on the R3. But finding those last few seconds is becoming difficult without powertrain upgrades. Nonetheless, shaved -3 seconds off my lap times at Road Atlanta after all day of work.

Puck down at 140km/h also makes me happy  ;D

Now I've seen everything.  The last thing I thought when I rode in my parent's 1961 Rambler was "race car".

That's an understatement.  When you're up nights with changes and feedings and on and on it feels like time is moving in slow motion.  Then you turn around and they're moving out.  It seriously feels like the time from when they turn one until eighteen is nothing but a blink of an eye.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. We've had a few rough moments (night 2 was hell), but even so we feel we're adjusting well and it already seems more than worth it. Can only imagine how much better it will all feel when she starts interacting a little bit more. We were forewarned that the first 2-3 months can be tough because they basically use you as a slave for food/changing/attention without giving any back. Not to worry, she's so damn cute we don't seem to mind  :rofl2:

A belatedly congrats to you! You will get through the first couple of months....once you learn to just go along with the kid's sleep/eat pattern.

I actually look back fondly at my "awake" time with baby #1 during the night once she was a few months old.  I would go to bed early, and then get up in the night for the baby's 2 hour awake time around midnight.  Feed her, play on the floor for a while, then she would cuddle in and I could read a book.  Put her back in her crib and head back to bed myself.  There are worse routines :-)
