They'll do everything in their power NOT to write it off and minimize the damage.

I'm going with $10k

$16,000 if they go with a used rear Diff. Write off if they can’t get a used one.

I just checked the bill for the TSX accident from back in 2009. $9200, 13 years ago, without much in the way of mechanicals.

Granted it was a made in Japan car + parts but still. I'd be surprised if it was sub $15k but who knows.

Hmm got an RX350 (base model) for a rental now...really nice. Needs the mid level option package but the car is nice. Wish we got one at the time.

Unfortunately the wife was not willing to test drive any Toyota or Lexus product at the time of purchasing the MDX.

If they write it off by some magic then we'll prob get an RX, otherwise we're stuck.

Also, its been 2 weeks and still no estimate from the bodyshop.

How long have you had the rental so far?  Why was your wife against anything Toyota/Lexus before?

I think she made some blanket statement about Toyota and Lexus being bad to drive or having shitty handling or something. I didn’t fight it. The whole MDX purchase process was for her to choose, so I let her, because she said I had too much control and input over what we bought in the past.

I let it be. :) she has long since admitted she made the wrong choice.

...and like that the RX is scratched off of the list.

Holy :censor:, what are the odds.  Unreal.

Whaaa?

LOL.  That's funny, but yeah, you've got some headaches to work through.

To be fair, I'm not sure an MDX is a 'bad' choice.  Why does she think it was the 'wrong' choice?

Took it right out of my driveway. Seemed like they ripped open the bumper under the front wheel well and put some kind of device in there, opened the door and started it right up and drove away.

They did almost manage to run themselves over during it though LOL.

But yes the administrative headache....super busy at work right now too.

And yeah at this point, as much as I like the RX, give me my MDX back!

To be fair, I'm not sure an MDX is a 'bad' choice.  Why does she think it was the 'wrong' choice?

She hates the transmission (known issue going in)
She hates the infotainment (known issue going in)
She likes the look of the Mazda better (she refused to look at the Mazda when we were shopping despite me suggesting it)
She realizes we overpaid (because she demanded that she wanted a white car, and there were no 2016 left in white, so we had to get a 2017 refresh, and there was a $5k difference because of clearouts. We probably had one of the first refresh MDX in Toronto. A month after that they put the $5k rebate on the hood of the new MDX. So this was known issue going in)
She realizes the 3rd row is actually almost useless (known issue going in)

Why did she buy it?
- she drove it back to back with the Pilot and liked the MDX drive better, because the Pilot was in ECO mode when she tested it and she didn't want to re-test it.
- its white

In short, complete :censor: decision making.

Vibes, must have been hard to bite your tongue.  But in the end, better to let the other person figure it out on their own.

Ha, yeah you say that's a :censor: decision but in reality a lot of people nowadays buy vehicles either without test drives or by test driving just one vehicle.  Man it's comedic that the RX was stolen, not funny ha ha though, just funny sad.  So you didn't have a rental for the time before that, or did they switch you to the RX due to it being the comparable to your MDX?  Don't understand why it's taking so long to give you a quote on fixing your MDX.  Must be sourcing the parts and coming up with a timeline that is the delay.
