You guys know I love my cash purchase cars. I find the market in Alberta is still grossly inflated while Ontario is only slightly inflated.

I bet I could run this Mazda to 600k+. Service history will be key though.

Prices in Ontario are way, WAY cheaper than Alberta or BC. Especially lower end stuff. Been looking for a 2015-newer Yukon or Suburban, they’re a good 20-30% less expensive out there. However, by the time I ship and safety the advantage disappears. Plus there’s that good chance it’s rusty from the bottom up.

But how inflated ?  You are looking at an extra $2000 just to fly out and drive back. Then you risk putting $$ in after a failed provincial inspection.
I think he's putting money into it BEFORE he travels anywhere.

Probably why it was sold in the first place. Needed some work done and the owner decided to cut bait.

Honestly, if I had when the slightest interest in this car, I'd send it to Adi to inspect.
How fast is my 911?  Supras sh*t on on me all the time...in reverse..with blown turbos  :( ...

But when he gets home he needs an Alberta based mechanic to certify it.

Yes but if you've already had it looked over and got it ready for the trip that shouldn't produce any surprises.

What's a 2015+ Suburban worth in your area? Down here there's tons for $12-15K USD with 150-200K miles on them. Seems pretty cheap, but I don't know the market on them.

I have my Kansas connection looking there too. They do seem reasonable down south. Last one I saw go fairly cheap was a 2016 Yukon XL SLT, had 257k and went for $16,500. I bought a 2017 Suburban LTZ with 198k for $18,750 but it failed the post sale inspection (rear main seal, transfer case noise). Again, by the time I do shipping, exchange, import fees, etc, etc…..

Maybe. Shops like to generate business on those inspections. Either way who knows what crops up on a 3300km drive home. If it were me I would be patient and scout BC

I say Dkaz goes for it, we need some entertainment around here  ;D

But yes I'd be very curious on the PPI report and results from Adi. 1000% a must.

I feel like no one is touching this car, so a low ball offer in the middle of January wouldn't be far fetched. I wonder what the dealer paid for this unit.

Oh I think he should too. I bet dealer paid $650 for it from a municipal salvage auction after Dirty Mike and the Boys had a Soup Kitchen in it.

I always called it the Edmonton of Vancouver. Although Surrey did end up being my second favourite Metro Vancouver municipality and I’ve made peace with Edmonton.

Interesting blanket statement. Arctic made a similar comment few days ago....Care to elaborate? Honest, serious question...

There are shady used car dealers all over GTA - Scarborough, North York (Keele&Steeles area for example). What makes Brampton worse than the rest of them?

Seriously? What's wrong with Brampton?

I honestly don't know if your're serious or joking re Brampton.

Another city known for their shady car lots?

Maybe higher likelihood of buying a stolen car?

You are playing percentages. Me personally I only buy privately from middle/high income neighborhoods. When buying used you are not only buying the car you are buying the previous owner(s). Responsible wealthy people have the resources to properly maintain their stuff.

Sometimes they even do maintain them.
I got a great deal on an Audi from an anal retentive German engineer.    Boost display wasn't working and was bugging the hell out of him but he didn't want to buy a new ECU to fix it.

I bought my 911 in Brampton, but it was a bit different place in the mid-nineties.   I've been shopping lately and a lot of the ads from there look pretty shady.

Yes, this is ideal and what I would do too. However, these conditions could be met in Brampton too if we are talking private sale, hence the question on the blanket statement where only the location is referenced.
